Re: 1 channel - 2 channel recording
I use an NAD pp3i A to D converter and a Music Hall mmf 9.1 tt. USB interface of course. The Music Hall mmf 9.1 has a 50Hz motor in it. It doesn't run from the USB connection. Are you using the NAD as the preamp and digital interface? Were you in Audacity 2.0.3 or 2.0.4? Windows likes to try and gu...

Re: Restore Audacity to Default Settings
Resinstalling Audacity doesn't reset Audacity.

Re: Deleting the preferences file for audacity on the mac
Oh. You're on a MacBook Air. Or as we call it, a notoriously slow and underpowered MacBook Air. I think they always came with SSDs didn't they? They had to. Did you change to a larger one? Are you sure the internal power system is up to it? Quite a few corners were cut to make that machine small and...

Re: Deleting the preferences file for audacity on the mac
There is a way you can louse that up. I have a high level folder called "Installers-Keys-Settings." In it are several Audacity versions and other notes, images and files. One re-install, the OS struggled to find the program and ended up opening one of those instead of the real program. It ...

Re: Deleting the preferences file for audacity on the mac
This is the first SSD drive I've worked with and wonder if things can happen like this. No. The only thing you notice with an SSD is the machine becomes scary fast and doesn't get hot, perfect for live video or audio. Yours might be broken or installed poorly, but it's highly unlikely. I have SSDs ...

Re: Voice pitch
Only tuning forks, flutes or some organ stops have single-tone or single frequency sounds. Harmonics, overtones and intentional distortions are what make the difference between two people singing exactly the same note, or the difference between viola and a saxophone playing the same note. This mess ...

Re: Delete beginning of multiple files
you can probably force it to work, but you almost certainly won't want to. Audacity doesn't edit MP3. It converts MP3 into a very high quality internal format and then edits that. The problem comes when you make a new MP3 at the end. The bubbly, honky compression damage doubles, so you can never go ...

Re: Hardware-induced Noise If Charging Device Via USB Port
You can make it worse if you charge your phone that way but leave it charging next to the cables in your sound system. You can hear it burble every time it "phones home" to make sure the connection is still there. It's distinctive. Perfectly normal. Any time you get analog sound equipment ...

And the only other option won't be optimal, either, where you cut a silent hole in the show.
You can't split a musical performance into individual instruments and performers, and that talker is now a performer in your recording.

Audacity doesn't use ASIO software, so whatever you think you're recording, it's probably not the full quality Maya.Maya 44 USB Ex Soundcard
