Re: Machine Shop Die grinder
How hard would it be to shoot that again without the grinder? If the grinder winds up and slows down during the interview, it is now a performer in the show. We can't split performances up into individual instruments, voices, or grinders. Your first task is to split the sound tracks from your DVDs -...

Re: Why does recording truncate around .43 on Vertical Scale
You can't do this. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/Line-Out_Mic-In.jpg The first microphone amplifier inside the laptop is super sensitive and many times not adjustable. Oh, and it's mono, not stereo. We generally recommend a stereo adapter like the UCA-202. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity...

Re: Distortion and muffled soundtrack
Did you shoot it?
Post some of it here on the forum. A good quality Mono MP3 should give us an idea what you have.

This may just make it clear to us why you need to reshoot it.

Re: Remove white noise from voice as well as background.
Snowballs work OK for desk announcing and other presenter jobs, but I wouldn't pick one of those for video work. the best you can do is cardioid -- receiving sound from the sides and front (a little sloppy) and very little from the back. You can reduce the sensitivity with the -10 switch, but you ca...

Re: Remove white noise from voice as well as background.
Hiss and "white noise" is almost impossible to manage because of the way Noise Removal works. You let it sniff pure noise and it generates custom filters to remove that noise from the show. Piece of cake, right? Hiss and White Noise contain all frequencies. So you are asking Noise Removal ...

Re: PITCH OF VOICE PROBLEM
Are you suffering from "Microphone Effect?" Do you have a different Announcer/Presenter voice than you do when you're saying "hello" to somebody. Many people do. There's a comedy routine going around about "cellphone voice." People unconsciously pitch their voice up or ...

Re: clicks and pops in V2.0.5
1.5GHz, Core Solo? That's not a very powerful machine. Are you trying to overdub? Is your drive internal? Close everything you have running or "sleeping" in the Dock. Gather up the thousands of icons you have on the desktop and stuff them all into one Folder. Really close Skype. Did it get...

The troubles started with 2.0.4. Can you go back to 2.0.3?

Re: Difference between waveform and waveform (dB)
There's a reason the blue waves go with percent and the meters use dB. Step one: The default meters are almost useless. Grab the right-hand edge and pull sideways so the meters are enormously bigger. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_record.jpg That's a perfect recording. The blue waves and t...
