Re: Folder not "remembered" after each recording

Now, it does not do this consistently.
What's inconsistent about it?

Re: Some tiny parts missing in recording

We don't generally see that with a modern machine, but yes. That usually means the machine isn't processing or recording fast enough for live audio. Pieces get left out or you may get little ticks, pops or gaps in the show. You can restart the machine and try recording before you do anything else. D...

Re: problem with flat line and no sound when trying to reco

We see no pictures. A Microsoft word or wordx document won't be visible to a lot of people so their use is discouraged. Screen captures on a Mac result in an immediate picture document, but captures in Windows result in a memory buffer image to be pasted into an application. Try Microsoft Paint and ...

Re: Importing an .m4v (video) file with multiple audio track

I believe you can use both Lame and FFMpeg as stand-alone programs and there are many more options when you do that. You can also fake it and record the French words by playing that track as a video show and using SoundFlower to record "What's Playing on the Computer." http://manual.audaci...

What was the Audacity version? What was the exact filename you used? Did you use punctuation marks in the filename? Dates are particularly troublesome. Today is 2013-11-03, or 20131103 not 11/3/13.

Re: Isolating multiple voices

I posted a question on the Pamela web site. It never occurred to me that some versions may not have split recording -- or you could turn it off. I see in what information there is that they have the ability to post a conversation directly to a podcast and that wouldn't work if the channels were spli...

Re: Isolating multiple voices

The reason we recommend Pamela is her ability to record the two sides of a Skype conversation clearly on two separate tracks. Even though this is paid software, it's usually worth it because once you smash your voices together, you can't pull them apart again. Are the two voices separate in the Wind...

Windows 8.1 even lets you boot straight into it without a third-party hack.

Re: Norton causing recordings not able to be saved

all of a sudden I can't seem to get it to fail now. You can get that if you're infected with a virus that defeats Norton as part of its infection, he said brightly. But it's much more likely you're trying to save the work in a bad place. Start with the desktop. That's usually safe. If you still hav...

Re: no sound after converting to mp3

One of our problems is using the same words but meaning very different things. You can get a silent MP3 three different ways: There is no sound in the file, or there is, but the computer won't play it for you, or the computer is putting the sound in the wrong place. What happens when you open up the...
