Do you use Skype? If so, your microphone might be filtering itself through Skype processing before Audacity gets to it. Apparently Skype isn't so easy to turn off. There's a Dilbert comic about it.

You should post to the TAL web site or forum if there is one. Step one is always get a good sound system or good headphones so you can hear what you're doing. Audio does not work by "push this button and everything is OK." You usually have to tune the work while listening. Which brings us ...

What you are supposed to do is put a label at the front of each song. Control-B, I think, or Tracks > Add Label. Then File > Export Multiple. Each label should present a stand-alone sound file with the music associated with it on the timeline. Is that what you did?

Telephone/cellphone recordings are not simple. How are you doing the recordings? Software on the cellphone? I use an Olympus TP-7 microphone with adapters or TP-8 microphone.
