Re: Keeping stereo tracks separate/unmixed on save
The first thing I would do is make the original show a linked stereo track and not two independent tracks -- or link them just before exporting a sound file. Left-hand drop-down menu > Make Stereo Track. If you do that, then whatever is on the left should stay there. Audacity has Mixdown-On-Export r...

From your title I was sure you were going to ask how to get Audacity to help set up your microphones. Koz

Re: Audacity splits my recording up...
Audacity doesn't save sound files. It saves Projects. If you need an actual sound file. You have to File > Export one. Leave all those little snippets alone and close the folder. Locate the AUP file with the same name as the folder and double click on that. If everything goes OK and you didn't move ...

Re: Recording instruments with the built in mic
The built-in microphone, while not winning any awards for quality is probably fine. However it was designed for Skype and voice work not cellos and oboes. Windows has a system to try and suppress room noise and echoes that tends to destroy instruments. It sees any sustained musical note as "noi...

Re: LIVE SOUND RECORDING HELP!!
Yes. I haven't thought about that in a long time, but if you have 'HiFi" VHS machine, you can make a very good stereo recording with one of those. Make sure the "HiFi" system is activated and it's running OK through the tape machine menu items. Some machines allow recording without vi...

Re: not recording
Then I upgraded to 2.0.5 and wanted to record some interview. Take us through how you're recording the interview -- keeping in mind we can't see you. USB Microphone? Headset? On-Line interview? Plug in a field sound mixer? Record Skype? One very common problem is plugging a USB microphone in after ...

Re: LIVE SOUND RECORDING HELP!!
If the mixer has a Tape Out, then this configuration should work OK. That's a Behringer UCA-202 stereo USB adapter. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo.jpg It's almost a 100% certainty that you will not to be able to directly connect a mixer to your computer. Mic-In is designed...

Re: PITCH OF VOICE PROBLEM
48000 is the sample rate used by digital television. 44100 is the sample rate used by Music CDs. 48000 carries very very high pitched sounds slightly better. Most humans can't tell the difference. Your dog and very young women might be able to appreciate the increased quality. I regularly shoot and ...

Re: No Playback
You should make sure Audacity is trying to send sound to your speakers.
Audacity > Preferences > Devices > Playback: [X] Built-In Speakers (select)
Yours may say Built-In Output or something like that. It should be pretty obvious.
