Re: newbie with bit rate question
Did you listen to it after you exported it? 32 should have sound pretty ratty (honky, bubbly) compared to the original file. MP3 gets its small files by throwing away sound quality. If you throw away too much, the show will start to sound damaged. Each MP3 export increases the damage, in your case b...

Re: Mark start position on accompaniment track
In the Overdubbing instructions... http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_recording_multi_track_overdubs.html ...there are instructions for "tuning out" recording timing errors. If you do have errors in your overdub session, you can use the Time Shift Tool (two sideways black arrows...

Re: How do you record what you hear and what you say?

That's about right for the 29.976/30 frames per second video thing in the US. It misses about a frame per minute. After about two minutes some people can see a lip sync error. After three, it's obvious to a lot more people. By five minutes, it starts to look weird. But the editor is supposed to know...

And just when you think you have it nailed, somebody posts that they got it all to work with nothing more than Audacity, a computer, internet connection and cup of coffee. We and they can't explain it. They just pushed some buttons and it all worked, and continues to work. I suspect they have a magi...

Re: Error while opening sound device.
Are you running out of room? Even Win7 computers fill up their hard drives. Audio take up a lot of room on the hard drive and it's easier than you think to fill them up. Start > My Computer > right-click c: > Get Info or Get Properties. There's a fuzzy rule that you need 10% to 20% of your hard driv...
Re: Beginner
What do you want to do? Audacity is a general audio production program and can do many things.

Re: Stereo split issues amplifying right side while recordin
So while recording a song Where is the song coming from? Live microphone? Recording from the internet? In general, Audacity doesn't do a thing to sound during recording. Whatever the computer supplies is what goes down. So if you make a recording and the sound balance is off, I'd be looking at the ...
