Re: The audacity wave is flat at the certain point...
The blue waves are not dB. They're percent. So 0.5 is 50%. 1.0 is 100%. I know that audio goes by dB and not percent, but this blue wave display makes editing easier. You can switch the blue waves to dB with the drop-down menu on the left of the track, but you will see it becomes more difficult to e...

Re: using two copies of Audacity simultaneously
What else is it doing? That machine should be able to handle that job without being able to go to lunch during processing. Audacity doesn't natively use every possible hardware shortcut and speed pipe, but still. That's the speed I get on my five year old Mac Mini with external FireWire drives. What...

Re: When I Press Play Audacity 2.0.5 does not playback
Where is Audacity trying to put the sound?
Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Devices > Playback.
Wait. The cursor moves downward or to the right?

Re: Headphones (1Hz)?
20Hz is the one you feel in your belly. That's the 32-foot flute stop on the organ. Maybe 16 foot. I need to look it up.
This is another 1Hz generator:

Not known for is sound quality.

Go (top of the screen) > Applications > Audacity folder (illustration).
The system will not allow you to drag that folder to the trash?
Apple (upper left) > Force Quit. Is Audacity in that list? Select it and force quit it. Then delete it from Applications.

Re: Audio is ruined after exporting
Use show sound that's easily recognizable. It does no good, for example, to use a fuzz guitar performance as an example of extreme distortion. The guitar is naturally distorted. How would we know?

Re: Audio is ruined after exporting
Have you ever used Soundflower? It's a free program that allows you to record what's playing on your Mac. It's the Mac version of "Stereo Mix" on Windows machines and it's a good way to record, for example, a YouTube sound clip. It's also a good way for you to record your distortion so we ...

Re: Headphones (1Hz)?
No and not likely to be, either. Human hearing stops around 20Hz.
If somebody asks you a question and you shake your head no, that's what it would sound like.

Re: Program frozen and hung up cannot access or exit Nyquist
Did you actually install Audacity, or are you running it from the .dmg? Did you double click the .dmg and then drag the audacity folder to /Applications? Did you read the little text file that came with it? * To install Audacity, copy the Audacity folder to /Applications or any other location of you...
