Re: Volume changes when I do Stereo Track to Mono
Your just trying to flatter me now We get the basket case shows. The ones in need of burial. It's refreshing to get a show where there's nothing fatal wrong with it. A favorite one is someone trying to rescue their first cellphone interview. Voice Recorder software doesn't record both sides. "...

Re: Reduction of loud voice in MP3 file
We recommend interviews be done on two separate tracks (two microphones) to help with problems like this. It's a simple matter to increase the volume of one track without affecting the other, and then combining the two voices into the final show. But when both voices are on the same track it's much ...

Re: Punching in and out
Audacity doesn't have punch in or out, but you can create a new track under the old one with the Overdubbing tools. As if you wanted to sing three part harmony or lay down four guitar tracks by yourself. Play the old track in your headphones and sing along with it. Just keep singing when you get to ...

Re: Audio problems when recording levels are halfway from 0d
It's 50% or -6dB. Same thing. If you play that, the sound meters (if you make them bigger) should hover at -6. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_playback.jpg That's scary. You usually get this problem when you try to plug a powerful stereo signal into your laptop Mic-In connection by accident...

Re: Background Noise on Recording
Were the voices singing the song, or talking about a recipe for chocolate chip cookies? I loaded a wav in to Audacity Where did the WAV come from? It was clean when you got it, right? Newer Windows machines have a series of special effects that you can apply to the playback sound. A popular one is &...

Re: Microphones
This is hard work choosing one. You did pick a difficult problem. It's no surprise you can plug your keyboard into your computer. So can I. But the keyboard has a much more powerful signal than a microphone -- up to 1000 times more powerful. A microphone signal is a really teensy, tiny, delicate th...

Re: Microphones
It's a terrific microphone, but it does take a mixing desk or special microphone amplifier. It's a grownup microphone with three-pin XLR connections on the bottom for excellent rejection of room electrical hum and buzz problems -- but you have to use all three pins to get the benefit. It takes power...

You're fine. I'll use more words. Sometimes when a complex system fails, it is possible to split the system into portions and test each portion. If you are very lucky, the cause of the failure reveals itself quickly. I split your computer at the Mac Operating System. Audacity is after the operating ...

Re: Unable to edit or play midi file
You require a special program. Audacity doesn't understand MIDI.
What you can do is play your song in a MIDI interpreter, module or device and then capture the music sound. That can be edited in Audacity.
