Re: Audio recording distortion after the first 4 seconds.
This is almost always Windows trying to turn your high quality recording into a Skype session. Any sustained musical note is perceived as "air conditioning noise" and Windows takes steps to suppress it. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#enhancements Koz

Re: remove sound of hammering (nail driving) in background
Then you're dead. The hammer is now a performer in your show. Past going in to each one and silencing it, I don't believe there is any other way, and that is going to leave holes in the show. I think all the click and pop removers are going to leave trash behind. The hammer isn't a classic vinyl rec...

Re: Unable to edit or play midi file
Maybe they're not MIDI files? Do you have Windows set to show you file extensions? That's sometimes valuable when you start having inexplicable problems. ================== Hidden File Extensions - Windows -- Start > My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View > [ ] Hide Extensions for Known File Ty...

Re: Volume changes when I do Stereo Track to Mono
By the way, do the intro and commentary for the show while you still sound like a contralto. It will save you hiring an announcer/presenter. Of course that will only work once, but if this is an audition show, it may get you hired. There is one more item to all this. We've been gazing closely at the...

Re: Volume changes when I do Stereo Track to Mono
You can make Chris's Compressor much stronger by increasing the first value, Compression Ratio from 0.5 to 0.77 (my favorite) or higher. This is raw and two versions of Chris (0.5 and 0.77) on the same sounds . Note the show gets louder and denser as I up the Compression number. http://kozco.com/tec...

Re: Does not detect my electric guitar
Do you know of anybody who got this to work? Did you read about it somewhere?
I'm betting the Blood Glucose monitor is trying to talk to the computer in data, not warbling tones. Unless somebody argues with me, I think that's not a USB/Audio interface.

Re: remove sound of hammering (nail driving) in background
I have an outdoor recording of a singer recently transferred from reel to reel to Audacity 2.0.3. with the .exe installer on Windows 7 Ultimate. Let me read that back to you. You have a clean recording of a singer on reel-to-reel and you transferred it to Audacity in a way that picked up hammering?...

Re: Volume changes when I do Stereo Track to Mono
Yeah. Much better. People use studio microphones in studios with studio announcers because it gives them maximum versatility and a presentable show in the minimum time with minimum cost. The more of those professional services and systems you peel off, the more likely you are to kill your show. Inte...

Re: cannot make stereo recordings
USB Audio Codec. That's probably it. You can confirm that by disconnecting the device. The listing should vanish. You may have to refresh the listing to see it go. Also remember, Audacity looks for new devices when it starts. Win7 had a nice little sound control panel with a sound meter in it for ea...

There are content tricks, too. I probably would not have told the subject I wasn't paying full attention to them while they were speaking. Maybe that's just me. Koz
