Re: Chain Help
over the original files in the same bitrate etc wav format I don't think Audacity Chains is stable enough to do that. The problem with saving a file over itself is the risk of destroying the original and the production since they're both open for a time. If Audacity goes down during that interval, ...

Re: Auto save for online recording
You want time of day and time stamps, too, right? You really want a surveillance recorder instead of trying to force Audacity to do it. Maybe someone could write something. The only way I know to get time is to invest in SMPTE Time Code equipment. That's not cheap and you still won't get day/month/y...

Re: Mixing a song
I have the home free version If you're talking about Audacity, there is only a home-free version. This isn't a money-based product. I just want to add in some heavier bass beats Audacity doesn't make very many sounds by itself. You have to downlaod or create the sounds you want and then you can use...

Re: Quick move to beginning of recording on the second track
Click just above the MUTE button on the second track. Audacity's focus and attention should now be entirely on track two. Next time you do a transfer, get to the end of side one and Pause [P] the recording. Unpause it and continue recording. Another even simpler option is just leave it running when ...

Re: Windows says files too big
If the default fast burn speed takes data faster than the computer can provide it, then the burn will fail and it may give you any of a number of different error messages depending on what part of the process was running at the exact instant that the burn crashed. Buffer Under-Run used to be a famou...

Re: Trouble Recording
A lot of people call capturing from YouTube "recording." What else would you want? Post a bit of the error track on the forum. If you already turned off "Windows Enhanced Services," then there are not a lot of things left. Audacity does not affect sound during recording. http://f...

Re: Blue Yeti White Noise?
You can set Audacity to recording your microphone and move it around to see where the noise is coming from. Announce as you go. "This is the Yeti next to the computer." "This is the Yeti next to the air conditioner." If you set Audacity Playthrough to "ON," you can plug...

Re: Windows says files too big
If you're making an Audio CD -- like for your mum's car, you get 78 minutes. How long is the whole show? If the show is shorter than that, then you should reduce the Burn Speed. It's rare for 'Burn Maximum' to produce the best disks. You can also look for things like bad blanks, scratches or fingerp...

Re: Best Gaming Headset MIC for Commentary?
Nobody posting on the forum for help ever stops and does reviews. The forum elves aren't likely to have this particular headset. Someone might. I will tell you that the "straight" A40 is an analog headset and that usually means you need to get your computer soundcard to boost the microphon...
