Re: no choice for stereo when selecting USB PnP Sound Device
If the cassette machine is expecting certain connection services when it plugs in and they're not there, then the only other option is change software drivers in the computer. If that's not an option or doesn't work right, then remember where you put the receipts. Audacity is a slave to what the com...

Re: Stereo Mix + onboard speakers ALMOST works
hearing the same sound through two different outputs then, is there? Computers don't have "Output 1" and "Output 2" unless you specifically bought hardware or special multitrack software to do that. Computers are not Digital Audio Workstations. There's another point. Stereo Mix ...

Re: no choice for stereo when selecting USB PnP Sound Device
Just to cover it, that's Universal Serial Bus, Plug and Play. It just means the supplier is expecting it to completely configure itself when you plug it in. Do the player instructions say in clear English that this will work on a Mac? If it doesn't mention Mac anywhere in the instructions, it may be...

Re: no choice for stereo when selecting USB PnP Sound Device
Since we don't have the device, it's a little rough for us to troubleshoot it. Audacity will record whatever the computer supplies to it. If the computer thinks you have a damaged or abnormal service, Audacity is helpless.

Re: Volume Issues
Here it is. Skype Call Recorder. I have no experience with this. You can also install Total Recorder and I believe that will also manage both sides of a Skype call.
You can also do it in hardware, but that involves a sound mixer.

Re: Volume Issues
Traditionally, you can't record both sides of a Skype call without killing the call. What you are probably doing is capturing the echo, system leakage or balance error. If Skype is working properly, that signal -- those voices -- should be zero. We suggest Pamela for recording both sides of a Skype ...

Re: Stereo Mix + onboard speakers ALMOST works
One of the valid techniques of recording 'Audio Playing On The Computer' is to send the speaker feed back into the recording channel. Quite literally, anything audible in the system becomes part of the capture. You know you have this system because anything you do to the speaker feed affects the rec...

Re: Need help with a sound quality issue
As an experiment once I borrowed an electric guitar and measured its pickup output signal with me hogging down on some chords. The signal level was just below HiFi Line Level. They're very close cousins of each other.
You generally can't plug a guitar into Mic-In. That doesn't work. Koz

Re: Decent mic for 50 bucks?
The downsides to a USB mic are that you can only use one at a time (no stereo or multi-tracking) and you can't use it live with a PA system. You can't ever get very far from the computer. One USB cable is about, what 6 feet? That's it without playing games with hubs and extensions. We had a poster ...
