Re: Cannot hear new track through headphones

What am I doing wrong? Trying to listen to the live vocal through the computer. There are two delays associated with overdubbing. Laying down a new track in sync with the old one is a slider adjustment. That's called Recording Latency. There is also Machine Latency. That's the one that causes your ...

Re: au data recovery?

it vanished into a much more complex system. The way I understand it, the new system makes Automatic Recovery much more likely. When you restart Audacity after a disaster, it will offer to put your show back together for you and it succeeds much more now than it used to. However, being binary, it a...

Re: Recording Guitar, Onlt Comes Through 1 Speaker. DX

We've been talking about your system and we're half-way to "Not Supported." You could have bought your machine in 1989 and the OS dates back to 2004. Goodness knows if the Mic-In socket is still working right and we have no way to test anything with an actual machine. You seem to have unex...

Re: External audio input to new macbook pro

You have fragments of a much larger recording system. That illustration shows one corner of a sound mixer (Peavey PV-6), the Behringer UCA202 and a PC. Any computer will work, doesn't have to be a PC, and any mixer should plug into the Behringer. However, that may be overkill and way too complicated...

There are more Zoom commands than those three. Those are only the three I use all the time. See: View > Zoom.

Re: analyzing stereo and mono tracks

My question is when when you push "create audio CD" and burn a CD it decompresses the file back from MP3 to CD red book standards automatically ? If you did it in iTunes, yes. Whatever you dragged to a playlist and then burned the playlist to disk will be converted to a fully compatible A...

Re: analyzing stereo and mono tracks

There is another way to do this that is a lot faster, but not quite as accurate. Drag-select a tiny bit of the mix-down in the middle of the show and magnify it Command-E. Do that several times until you can see the individual ups and downs of the blue waves. It's very highly unlikely the the waves ...

Re: Recording Guitar, Onlt Comes Through 1 Speaker. DX

Call strumming the guitar the "performance" to keep it straight from Playback in Audacity. OS-X 10.4 is Tiger, right? Does the iMac switch between Mic-In and Line-In in System Preferences? Is it automatic? It's possible capturing with Mic-In will give you a mono track (which plays to both ...

Re: Stereo Mix + onboard speakers ALMOST works

It all sounds incredibly convoluted in how audio is routed through a computer. Ding, ding, ding! We have a winah! I know how this works and I get lost. Here's to hoping Windows revamps their audio interface sometime in the future. Actually they did relatively recently. There are fourteen people who...

Re: Connecting A Turntable with Behringer UCA202

Close Audacity. Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. This panel should have a bouncing blue-ball sound meter. If you select the USB Audio Codec and play a record, the blue balls should flash. If they don't, then the sound is not getting to your Mac. Audacity gets the s...
