Re: Exported MP3 messed up on some platforms, perfectly fine on others
Audacity did crash a few times while I was editing... Do you know what a "doorknob moment" is? A person has been to the doctor's office for a checkup and for the most part passes very well. They're leaving the office and with their hand on the doorknob, turn and say "I throw up blood...

Re: Audacity Mastering Process for ACX
Yes. The three mastering tools as published. Filter Curve, Loudness Normalization, and Limiter. That puts your noise passing, but not by enough. That gentle noise reduction puts you in safe territory and the desibilator gets rid of that last little vocal harshness. Chat, Skype, Zoom whatsoever on my...

Re: Audacity Mastering Process for ACX
One more. Do Not Change Anything once you start reading. There is no "get a new microphone," or "change studios" once you start. ACX wants all the pieces of the book to match. They hate it when the end of one chapter doesn't match the beginning of another. There is no Zoom, Skype...

Write down how you made that sound clip. It's good to go for voice volume.
There is still a tiny hummmm in there, but it mostly dies in all the effects we're using.

Re: Audacity Mastering Process for ACX
You should be super-duper careful with putting punctuation marks inside filenames. You're allowed two: -dash- and _underscore_. There are some punctuation marks such as the slash marks that can kill your show. There is a new tool in town. Desibilator. desibilator.ny Install it and use it with these ...

Do the broken ones have parentheses in the filename?
Do the broken ones straighten up if you change the filename in Windows? Upper case, lower case, numbers, _underscore_ and -dash- only. No spaces.

You can take this upside down. You can check if you have a healthy MP3 because Audacity will open those. You can find out what you really have with MediaInfo. https://mediaarea.net/MediaInfoOnline And yes, you can add the FFMpeg software to Audacity to open many different sound formats. https://manu...

Re: Audio Feedback request
Desibilizer works best after Audiobook Mastering because it uses Mastering's automatic volume setting. The other patches and fixes are up to you. Be sure you're not Diving For Noise. Evaluation should be setting the show volume for normal entertainment listening and then don't change anything during...

Re: a completed audio book
As Steve above, your own Edit Masters should be in a perfect, uncompressed format. You can't edit or change an MP3 without sound damage. ACX's request of mono (not stereo) format and their requirement of at least 192 quality MP3 is so they can resample your work for different products and services w...
