Re: Getting Rid of Background music on Mono audio.
Import both the show and the music as separate tracks, one above the other. Select the music track and Effect > Amplify: -6dB (top number) > OK. Still selecting the music track > Effect > Invert > OK. The music track is now set to partially cancel the music in the show. Using the Time Shift Tool (tw...

Re: Recording Song too fast
You can consider that the recording is going too fast, or you can consider what's probably really happening which is the recording was happening too slow. The computer or some part of the recording system isn't working fast enough to capture all the audio data. I'd be surprised if the show was off i...

You're going to lose a lot of people when you start asking non-Audacity questions.

Re: Yet another person in need of Ess removal
You can try something a little different. Select one of those crashing "S" sounds -- by itself -- and use that as the profile step in Effect > Noise Reduction. Then select a bunch of the performance and apply Noise Reduction. If that gets you sorta close, try editing several S sounds toget...

Re: Removing mic hum/buzz
I did realize the buzzing before people left but didn't have the heart to ask them You know the standard picture everybody has of a film shoot where the director yells "Roll!" and the camera operator yells "Rolling!" and the director yells "Action?" There's a step miss...

Did you really install Audacity? Explode the .DMG file into its pieces on the desktop for one example, and drag the Audacity folder into Applications? I think this is the error you get when you don't actually install the program.

Re: Help! help!! help!!!
Is it loud, dense and crunchy? You connected the output of your amplifier to the Mic-In of your computer, right? Has this ever worked? I'm guessing no. Mic-In on a laptop is designed to do this: http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/computerAnalogMicrophone.jpg Even if you turn it down, the sound may s...

Re: Same Volume Levels For All Projects
Please note that the blue waves and the bouncing sound meters use different measurements. The meters use dB which more or less reflects how your ear works. The blue waves use percent 1=100%. They're measuring the same thing differently. All the things you can hear in your production don't fit on the...

Re: Removing mic hum/buzz
If all you did was stop and start the camera, then yes, chances are good that all the clips may take the same settings. The Big Kids listen to a sample of the performance recording before everybody goes home. If possible, listen to a snippet just before the take. You should be listening to the camer...
