Re: Recorded audio sounds slow
That's scary. We can whip out reasons for the show to speed up. Slowing it down is harder. Do older shows sound slow as well? If you play a ten second clip, does it take ten seconds?

Re: Save each track in project, but *preserving* blank space
It could be argued, successfully, I think, "What else could you want?" The operator spends hours sliding tracks around to precisely arrange the sounds of the show in a particular order and duration. A: Track exports carefully remove all the timing cues and durations destroying the rhythm o...

I think Gale is fishing for a vote in the "Adding Features to Audacity" section. It doesn't exist yet.
I wouldn't mind that feature, either.

Re: CHOICE OF MANUFACTURERS FOR NEW DESKTOP COMPUTER
Audacity can't recommend anything, so it's all up to personal experiences. Audacity will run just fine on a wide range of computers, operating systems and sound cards (and languages). Generally, the plainer the better (the machine, not the language). People get into trouble with very high end sound ...

After that, drag the file to or open it in Windows Media and use the Audio CD Burning tools. You won't need most of this. Scroll around. http:/...

Re: Creating subliminal sounds???
You can't just "move audio" to a higher band. People complain all the time that pitch changing a voice or music more than one or two piano notes creates trash. People have experimented with modulation effects. Is that what you want?

Re: confusion
Audacity is not a WAV editor. It's a production audio editor, so some of the techniques and tools are going to be different from other editors. Because of its simplicity and cost, Audacity doesn't come complete with all software drivers and options. For one prominent example, Audacity will not expor...

Re: Exponential compression via nyquist ?
The poster produced an animation where what looks like a normal voice performance wave is subsequently boosted in the quiet areas and crushed in the loud ones, both plus and minus -- in short, a voice track well on its way to being a series of square waves. I produced an almost identical wave shape ...

"Dense," on the theory that distortion sounds loud. Isn't that what the leveler used to do?
Yeah. That's exactly what Leveler does on the heaviest setting.
