Re: Stereo problems
Load your "client deliverable" show back into Audacity. Tracks > Stereo Track To mono > OK. Does your voice vanish? Does the show sound normal now, except it's in "flat," one-track mono? Let's see what you think before I go off explaining how you can get that problem. Did more th...

Re: Distant voice louder
Try the equalization trick. That's pretty simple and we've had some luck with it.
If we could shoot sound from across the room, then the newsies wouldn't still be doing this:

Re: Naming System Help
Chances of recovering a show without the AUP Project Manager is, let's say "significantly reduced." Those little snippets are not all sound and the ones that are sound alternate left and right. So missing one is pretty serious.

Re: speed up
The slider on the front of Audacity is just a player. It doesn't change the show. If you do want to change the show: Effect > Change Speed http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/change_speed.html Effect > Change Tempo http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/change_tempo.html Effect > Change pitch. http:/...

Re: Distant voice louder
Probably the most valuable part of this exercise is now you know you need to get the recorder close to the person speaking. No fair trying to record a lecture from the back of the hall, either, unless you brought the weapons-grade microphones. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/sennheiserShotgun.jpg...

Re: Distant voice louder
I'm not surprised it didn't show up on a search. It's more complicated than everyone thinks. Audacity can't split apart the instruments in an orchestra in order to make one instrument louder than the others. We can't split apart the members of a chorus to make some members louder. See where I'm goin...

These tools are never perfect, but this should get you in the ballpark.

Re: All I need to do is burn my cassettes to CD's
After they are finalized, single-shot CD-R disks are the most compatible with store-bought Audio CDs. I think you can force CD-RWs to work, but it takes much longer and some older players might not know what to do with them. I record whole hour-long radio shows and that works, but even then I occasi...
Re: GE-4059
Your computer may have switched to the built-in microphone from the turntable. It could be a priority problem. Close Audacity, connect the turntable, wait a couple of seconds and then start Audacity. Did it start working? If not, this is where you get to tell us what you bought and how you have it c...

Re: Audacity sounds very tinny, recording with cassette play
You lucked out before. The new computer Mic-In is probably designed for a microphone... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/computerAnalogMicrophone.jpg ...and nothing else. You can get around the lack of a stereo, high-level Line-In with a USB sound adapter such as a Behringer UCA202 like I have. Th...
