Re: Help, newbie here

I cannot think for the life of me what to do next.
Umm. Tell us what you're trying to record?

Re: "did not recognize type of file"

Did you set Windows to show you filename extensions? If you didn't, it's possible what you really have is WillCircleUnbroken-StapleSingers-VLC-01.wav.m4a, and Windows is hiding the .m4a part.

Re: "did not recognize type of file"

Just because it says it's a WAV file...

You can add FFMpeg software to Audacity and it will open up a great many more file types than Audacity will on its own. Scroll down.

Re: Microphone playback too deep

I've never experienced a mic that far off. Post two clips: One what you sound like normally and the other the same words with the broken mic. You don't need WAV for this. You can use very high quality MP3 -- like mono 128. That should be enough. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=49&t...

Certainly not. If nobody makes it, you have to write it and develop it yourself.

Re: Won't record to USB

Close Audacity. Restart the Mac. Leave everything plugged in. When the Mac starts: Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Hardware > Audio > Input. Does your USB device appear in that list? If not, then it didn't appear to the Mac and it doesn't matter what you set in Audacity. The computer has t...

Re: Audio Technica AT2020 Plus with Audacity

Open the playback dropdown (speaker symbol) and make sure Audacity is trying to play music out to your headphones and not out to the microphone. If you're overdubbing, make sure Overdubbing is ON and Playthrough is OFF in Recording Preferences.

Re: Audacity as EQ processor .

It's not a WAV editor, either. People who use Audacity to do scientific experiments bump up against the processes that keep the show together at the expense of each individual sample. It's a post production editor, and yes, the inability to apply effects and filters and change them in real time is a...

Re: Audacity as EQ processor .

Audacity doesn't do anything in real time except play, record, and timer. iTunes has a 10-band graphic equalizer built-in, but I don't know of an application that will accept input from your text file.

Re: Two bugs (or at least programming related issues) to V2.

Is there any reason you're studiously avoiding using iTunes for this music management? You can configure iTunes to be loss-less for CD import. Pull the music into iTunes, create a playlist and drag the music over to it. Once you do that, you can arrange the music inside the playlist in any order you...
