Re: CD won't play in my car
Audio on a music CD isn't plain WAV format. Audio CD has its own format and you need an Audio CD Authoring Program to make them. There's nothing wrong with the player in your car, but it is probably expecting a "real" Audio CD. Once you make the WAV files in Audacity, pull them into Window...

Re: Help, newbie here
One other note, conferencing services like Skype grab and mess with the sound system. Those should be completely closed before you try to record anything. Trying to record both sides of a Skype call is notoriously difficult. The two different programs battle each other for supremacy over the sound. ...

Re: Cannot open Audacity after clicking on the Nyquist optio
You should not run Audacity from within the Disk Image, but the ZIP and the DMG (disk image) download result in exactly the same program except for the file time and date. I don't remember the spells with this, but I do remember that Audacity puts parts of itself in places other than /Applications, ...

We agree. If it was useless, they'd be giving it away with no restrictions.ASIO is a great enhancement to avoid latency issues.

Re: Help, newbie here
I simply just want to record what's online. There is no "simply." Self recording is not a guaranteed service on computers. Some do it and some don't and the ability decreases with modern machines. It doesn't appear on the list of features when you buy a machine. Macs, for one example can'...

Re: USB input connected, but not recording
Cool. Close the panel. Open Audacity. If it's been open, close and reopen it. Audacity > Preferences > Quality: 44100, 16-bit Audacity > Preferences > Devices: Select your device, Stereo > OK Press record and make sound. I expect something to record. You should get bouncing sound meters and fresh bl...

Re: Help, newbie here
OK. Calm down. Recording What's Playing on the Computer is a special case and not all computers support it well. Can you record anything, ever? If you plug a microphone in or switch to the built-in microphone, does that work? Plug your cassette machine into the Line-In? Even plug an adapter cable in...

Re: USB input connected, but not recording
Close Audacity. Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. Is your device listed there and does the bouncing ball sound meter work when you make sound? This is the first stop in the computer. If it doesn't get here, no other part of the system will get it including Audacity....
