Re: Lost Audacity Project

Windows (and DOS before it) has traditionally erased things by simply changing their disk drive address listing, effectively "forgetting" where they were. It's fast and effective. The work is actually still there. Windows also tends to put new work in actual empty portions of your drive be...

Re: cant open audacity after installing

I have to double click on my Disk Image (dmg) file to get it to explode into its contents (attached illustration.) Is that what you get? Go > Applications Drag the Audacity folder to the Applications icon on the far left of that window. Don't try to drop it in the Application listing. Second illustr...

Re: still only showing one track

I think you missed the step where you select an Audio CD for management and burning. Exactly those words. Audio CDs do not have folders. Data CDs do. Data CDs work like shiny, flat hard drives. You can put any kind of file on there you want up to the capacity of the disk. You can put on folders and ...

Re: Cannot open Audacity after clicking on the Nyquist optio

(Installation: Do NOT run Audacity from the DMG!!!! ). Exactly correct. You should install Audacity from either the Disk Image (DMG) or the ZIP, not run it. When you install Audacity from either one, the installation process goes out and looks at the digital neighborhood making sure it knows where ...

Re: How to align multiple tracks to the right

Bulletin! Bulletin!

You should select each short track by clicking just above the MUTE button, not double clicking on the blue waves. The blue wave trick doesn't work with the Time Shift Tool selected.

Re: How to align multiple tracks to the right

I could not figure out where you were going with that. Select a short track by double clicking inside the blue waves and the Time Shift Tool (sideways black arrows). Push the short track sideways toward the end of the longest track and it should pause when the two ends line up. The end points are sl...

Vectorscope or equivalent

With respect to this answer: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=76626&p=232193#p232193 The short, definitive answer is View > VectorScope and make sure you have a fan or blob of audio and not a straight line. If you have a straight, bright line, that means the show is mono an...

Re: Dividing one long track into smaller tracks

how do I divide the string of songs so that each song is a separate track, for the CD? The short answer is to create a label under the blue waves at the beginning of each song and File > Export Multiple. The detailed version is written here. Scroll down to the tutorials. http://manual.audacityteam....

Re: Can't get past "Could not open mp3 encoding librar"

Step One was wrong.

See illustration. Do not put any dots in your filename and it's a bad idea to put any punctuation marks in there except dash and underscore. No dates for example. Today is 2013-12-28.

I know there's a magic trick to installing Lame. I need to look that one up.
