Re: How to change audio (voice) pitch without distortion
You're also up against Human Cues. You can tell instantly when your mum is getting a cold because her voice may change the smallest amount -- too small for instruments to find it, but it's perfectly obvious to you. People who try to move voices several piano notes or "make me into an announcer&...

Re: Produce an acapella song?
It can have problems if both songs are highly compressed internet downloads or MP3. MP3 gets its small file sizes by creating sound damage and the damage is likely to be different between the two versions.

Re: Time stretching when usin "play-at-speed"
Audacity doesn't do very much in real time. It's a post production editor. Play At Speed is the equivalent of dragging your finger on the record. Everything goes down.

Re: Why would I explicitly add a track?
You would add a blank track to have a place to copy/paste clips or effects and move them around and add filters or effects independent of the main show. The only two recording options are Record which always starts a new track and Append Record (Shift-R) which jams a recording on the end of an exist...

Re: Artifact noise created with noise removal on a tape reco
I'm surprised you got any hiss removal to work. Noise Reduction works by automatically generating rejection filters based on whatever you used for the Profile. That's why the Profile step is supremely important. Since hiss is a sound made up of all musical tones, Noise Reduction tries to remove the ...

Re: first set up with roland vs840 and midisport
Since Audacity doesn't deal with MIDI, you need to get the work to play into the computer sound system and then set Audacity to record "sound playing on the computer." And hope the two system don't conflict with each other. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_recording_audio_play...

Re: No 'front line in' option new laptop to digital piano
When you plug a USB sound device into a Windows machine and try to use it, Windows naturally assumes you want to go both directions, so it arranges the pathways to make it so -- whether you wanted it that way or not. You can easily re-assign sound pathways in Windows Control Panels and in Audacity, ...

The research is up to you, but that one looks like it has all the pieces needed -- and the specification is for UK mains.
It says you can get a refurbished one for 10 pounds.

Re: Produce an acapella song?
Sure. Import both songs (File > Import) and Audacity will place them one above the other and play them both at once. Select the instrumental by clicking just above the MUTE button. Effect > Invert. The instrumental is now "opposite" the music in the mix. Use the Time Shift Tool (two sidewa...

You bought a new HP laptop with a pink Mic-In on the side? http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PCLaptopSound.jpg New Windows laptops have been arriving without a Stereo Line-In connection. They all have Mic-In suitable for one of these applications. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/computerAnal...
