We can't separate parts of a sound recording into voices and noises. You need to do this to apply amplification or filtering to one voice without affecting the whole recording. You see people doing this on a TV show, but that's theater. You can't actually do that in real life.

Re: Audacity noob needs help with filtering noise
No, you probably have bad acoustic cellphone leakage between the earpiece and and microphone as captured on the Sound Recorder APP. We can't rescue those. Those rescues on the CSI TV show are pure Hollywood.I have a recording on my phone where I caught my girlfriend messing around.

Re: Select multiple clips in a single track
2.0.5 is the desirable, stable version of Audacity. Post some of the work here on the forum (or anywhere else you have permission to post work). http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=72887 We don't care about bit-level accuracy for this problem, so you can use a very high quality MP...

Re: White Noise (static detecton)
Bury the microphones in multiple pillows in a quiet room and record them in Audacity. Average out the jumping sound meters. Make the meters really big by grabbing the right-hand edge and pull so you can read the numbers. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_record.jpg or undock the meters and ma...

Re: Background noise-Newbie
Yes, there is the problem of bad sound system hiss when you're playing nothing at all. Nobody is throwing awards at Windows soundcards for their high quality. Windows PCs are not Digital Audio Workstations. Establishing your sound system is high on the list of things to do before you try to do post ...

Re: Background noise-Newbie
I have exported the file to Mp3 First problem. Never do production in MP3. The process of making an MP3 creates sound damage and makes filters, effects and tools more difficult to use. Export everything in WAV until you get to the point where you want to upload a show or put the work on your iPod. ...

Re: Time stretching when usin "play-at-speed"
As I understand it, Play At Speed doesn't actually affect the sound data. It just presents it at different speeds. If you're trying to use Audacity as a live production playback system... um ....good luck.

Re: playback speed way too slow
It's hard to get an actual speed change. TOSLink is a cousin to AES/EBU digital which is 48000, 16-bit, Stereo. Is that what you have Audacity set for? Koz
