Re: Large sections of my project dissapears after saving
Under what circumstances is a dash mark not accepted? We use all three major operating systems at work plus whatever the clients use and have never had obvious troubles. Koz

Re: Brand New to Audacity, Record Issue
Can you do a test? Start a recording at exactly on the minute and just say something so you can identify your voice and any damage and then say something and stop the recording exactly one minute later. You have sound damage, but do you get a one-minute recording on the timeline? If you play the pie...

Re: Low Volume when recording with AT2020 USB
Yes, it's a directional microphone and has a front. Never do production in MP3. It causes sound damage on its own and makes it difficult to apply filters and effects. Stick to WAV format and then make an MP3 as a very last step (if you have to) when you post the show on-line or push it over to your ...

Re: Can't open some MP3 files.
This may be more obvious if you force Windows to show you the original filenames. Windows likes to hide file name extensions because they're "too confusing." You may find they're already correct. Koz Hidden File Extensions - Windows -- Start > My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View > ...

Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Projects: "Always Copy..." puts the music files inside Audacity. "Don't Copy" is the reference method. Point to 'em when you need 'em.
You can catch up your show in post production.
Audacity > File > Check Dependencies...

Re: New user with basic recording issue
Even though the sound meters are properly in dB (how your ear works), the blue waves are in percent. 1=100%. Because of that, the blue waves are only present in the loudest portion of the show -- generally the portion that needs to be perfect, accurate, and visible for production editing. So that's ...

Re: New user with basic recording issue
With Win7, you should be on Audacity 2.0.5. If you've been doing this for a while, you know that in order to record internet sound or music playing on the computer, you should set up to record from Stereo-Mix, What-U-Hear or whatever your computer calls it. That's the last thing you want when you st...

Re: Noisereduction twice chains
There is the idea floating around out there that you can get better results with two passes of noise reduction instead of one. That's not unheard of. However, you are required to get a second profile if you do that and Chains don't lend themselves to multiple profiles. My guess is the second pass is...

Re: Large sections of my project dissapears after saving
Is there anything common about the errors? They always split off the end of the show? Do you use "safe" filenames? No punctuation marks except underscore and dash? Dates are usually a problem. Today is 2014-01-07, not 1/7/14. Do you use punctuation marks in the metadata text? Do you use &q...

Re: White Noise (static detecton)
And as above for pages and pages, you won't be measuring the microphones. You will be measuring the preamp noise, but see how it goes. Koz
