Re: Large sections of my project dissapears after saving

You can Stop and then play several parts of the show as a quality control measure and everything plays just fine, yes? I have never tried to stop it and play any part before. This is worth doing and it's easy. The next time you press Stop at the end of the event, instead of immediately saving the w...

Re: Windows 7 and Audacity 2.0.5 Compatibility

Newer Windows machines naturally assume you're going to do business and corporate communications work (Skype, etc.) and are no longer general purpose computers. Because of that, many laptops no longer accept a stereo Line-In connection from a mixer and even if you do manage to connect it, the show w...

Re: Crackling when recording guitar

Close Audacity. Apple (Upper Left) > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. Make sure your USB device is selected and see if a rational number of lights in the blue ball light meter flash when you play music. They should not all come on and stay on. The USB connection may not have any provis...

Re: No sound

Does the show play while you have it in Audacity?

Does it look similar to this while you're recording?

Re: Downloaded Audio Books

Are you sure they're MP3? I didn't think MP3 had any protection. I'm not surprised that Windows Media does that.

You could always record "What's Playing On The Computer."

Re: Add 2 sec more to an AC3 track

Dolby AC3 is a compressed format. If you take it apart into "real" audio it gets huge (as you found), but more important, when you make a new AC3, you get double the compression damage because you're compressing the music and the original compression damage. If you had access to the music ...

Re: Odd Buzz ...

You're going to have to post a sample of the buzz. Use two seconds of WAV format because we're going to need to take it apart.

Re: Home recording question

I'm not after studio quality. Yes, you are. Anyone thinking about multi-track recording and editing music quickly finds that the dog barking next door, the Metrobus starting up outside and "recording in a kitchen" echoes turn your production into a small child fooling around with a Mr. Mi...

Re: Echo noise when recording

You should describe what you're doing. "I'm recording my voice through a USB microphone." Are you using headphones in both locations? Headphones are required for live microphone work. Leaving speakers and microphones running in the same room is asking for troubles. Do you like to record in...

Re: Large sections of my project dissapears after saving

There is another troubleshooting technique where you take the problem upside down. If somebody wrote me a big check and wanted me to produce this error, how would I do it? Without programming Audacity to do that, I don't think I could. Program Audacity to "lose" large contiguous blocks of ...
