Re: Home recording question

Not auditioning for anything and no interest in performing
That would work, then, yes. People post all the time complaining that their home recording doesn't sound like Columbia Records or Deutsche Grammophon.

Re: Odd Buzz ...

Cool. an electro-acoustic piano through an audio jack Now you should tell us details about the connection between the piano and the computer. Do you use one of these: http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/stereoJumper.jpg That connection is ripe with possible problems. Older computers came with a s...

Re: Adjust size of audio signal

How do I adjust the size of the audio file in the recording block. I assume the sideways size? I have a system change when I'm editing that I find helpful. I turn off Automatic Screen Update. Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Tracks > [_] Update Display... (de-select) Use the magnifier tools. Control...

Re: Fixing distortion

You sent us the AUP project management text file, not sound. Select a 2-second portion of distorted speech and File > Export Selected. Use WAV type of file or FLAC.

Do you know the model number of the headset? Is it USB?

Re: Increase the Amplitude of Low Frequencies - Recording

I am trying to understand your first part. Thanks again! Mic-In on a laptop computer is designed to accept a mono microphone. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/computerAnalogMicrophone.jpg http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PCHeadset.jpg And only a mono microphone (or headset). It's not a gene...

Re: Increase the Amplitude of Low Frequencies - Recording

I assume that audacity has a minimum threshold for recording frequencies and amplitude No, it doesn't. It records dead flat from 0dB down to the limits of audibility -96dB and all audio frequencies. Windows, however, has problems. Audacity can only use whatever the computer gives it, and the comput...

Re: Increase the Amplitude of Low Frequencies - Recording

Today I tried to record the sound output from my Keyboard to Mic input of laptop and I found That doesn't usually work. You need a Stereo Line-In on the computer (blue socket) or a USB adapter to provide those connections like this: http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo.jpg That...

Re: Large sections of my project dissapears after saving

I'm just now paying attention as I wrote that. If you use the machine once a week for an hour, chances are Win7 has never had a chance to automatically service or defragment the drive. There's a remote chance that's where some of your work is going. Audacity will not work reliably into a damaged, fu...
