Re: Happy with audacity!

We're not a multi-media product, we don't do video at all and we won't burn a CD or DVD. Oh, and no MIDI, so there may be room for other software products.

turtlebeach x12 The headset, right? It it USB, or analog like this: http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PCHeadset.jpg The high-pitched frying, mosquito whine, right? We do know what that is. It's the computer electrical housekeeping getting into the show. If you could hear your computer running ...

Re: Voice over MP3 on an existing MP3 bed

I THINK I can follow your instructions. I did that at a dead run. Signal when you get stuck. File > Import > point to your first sound file > OK. Repeat. I think you can do it Right-Click on the file > Open-With > Audacity and that works, too. Once you have an MP3, whatever damage it's going to con...

Re: Low Recording Level

Some techniques for Self Recording go through the final soundcard amplifier before the speakers. In English it means you may need to turn your speakers up for it to work. I don't mean the sound control knob on the big wooden speakers on your bookshelf, I mean the "speaker" slider in your s...

Re: Listening what I record with delay

you definitely can NOT customize a laptop Precisely. Posters have been arriving complaining that their laptop is causing noise problems in their USB sound. USB sound devices are the solution when your built-in sound doesn't work right. Now, it's possible to get a laptop so cheap it doesn't do anyth...

Re: Listening what I record with delay

Lenovo has JBL speakers, Dolby Home Theater v4, REALTEK HD everywhere xD All playback enhancements. Nowhere does it mention recording. This too, is pretty common. I saw an advertising listing that went the whole page with how their product was going to make your life worth living. All playback. Thi...

Re: Listening what I record with delay

How can I verify that my new USB sound card is gonna be better than my laptop's? That's a heck of a question. I've never seen a listing in any ad that explicitly says the device mixes computer playback with live performance. There are several that suggest that. Regard the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. ht...

Re: Listening what I record with delay

It's not the power that's the problem. It's simple economics. It's the difference between selling several hundred computers to the General Electric company in Schenectady, NY for the purpose of field sales communications and conferencing versus selling one laptop to somebody in Burlington, Vermont f...

Re: Recording dialogue in the wilderness

There is a test signal called "pink noise." I call it "Rain in the Trees." This test signal has all audio tones in it. That's its job. If you try to reduce rain in the trees, microphone hiss or tape hiss from a show, Noise Reduction will try to remove the whole show. Noise Reduct...

Re: Voice over MP3 on an existing MP3 bed

a stupid question as the answer will likely be an easy one Not so easy if you've never met an audio editor before. There is one fair warning. Never, ever do production in MP3. MP3 always produces sound damage and you may not hear it right away, if you try to create a show with one, you may find the...
