Re: Deepen voice while keeping crisp for commentary
Another note about live recording, anything you do in post production will have to be done forever. No such thing as getting to the end of recording the show and go home. You have to always remember to apply the filters corrections and check to make sure the show sounds OK. Every. Show. Newbies post...

Re: how do i remove the noise to get JUST the instruments?
i didn't really understand your response besides the "Nope. sorry." It's too damaged. There's too much trash in with the music for us to do anything. The "CSI" US TV show is famous for turning ratty surveillance TV pictures into crystal clear license plate numbers and completely...

Re: I am totally befuddled with Audacity on my laptop
Some computers turn around the speaker signal for recording. Not all computers record internet shows the same way. Try this. Do a quick recording (you don't need a whole hour) and instead of listening to it while you record it, reduce the speakers so you can barely hear it. Then play the show. Did t...

What do you expect it to do in English. It looks like you just rewrote the entire Analyze drop-down. Koz

Nope. Sorry. It's just too far gone. We can't do "CSI" forensics and taking apart a sound into the instruments and people that made it is very nearly impossible.

Re: Deepen voice while keeping crisp for commentary
In reading the original question, Effect > Change Pitch is going to change the crisp. That's it's major failing for voices. Give it a shot anyway, just to see what it does, but people trying to lower their voices notice right away that their voice gets a blanket over it.

All else being equal, that might sound like an AM radio.

Re: how to squeeze 600sample wave to 256 for synth
You should, I guess, change the sampling rate with the number at the Audacity lower left. The fidelity and quality of the sound is going to dive. For example, changing the sampling rate from 44100 to 22050 will reduce the number of samples in the song to half without changing anything else except th...

Re: cassette tape recorded on faulty recorder
You can probably do a reasonable job in post production. Audacity doesn't do anything in real time. Record the show in Audacity and then Effect > Change Speed.
