By the way, voice echo or delay in your headphones is normal. You can't quite do real time sound-on-sound overdubbing with a straight computer soundcard.

Guitar-Hero Rock Band USB microphone? Cool. Plug the microphone in, wait a handful of seconds and restart Audacity. Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Devices > Recording: Pick the microphone, mono. [OK] Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Quality > 44100, 16-bit. [OK] Press record and you should be able t...

Re: disability help
Audacity doesn't do anything in real time except Record, Play and Timer. So the best we could do is record the effort and try to pair it up with the appropriate match and then play the match -- minutes later. I'm not sure the analysis software is up to this, either. One of our standing lines is Auda...

Re: Trouble recording from Olympus digital voice recorder
Start by not using Mic-In. That's only for these things. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/computerAnalogMicrophone.jpg If you have no Stereo Line-In, then you may be able to use a Behringer UCA202 or equivalent like I do. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo.jpg Other people m...

Re: no sound through Audacity on my Mac
Close Audacity. Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound > Input. Do you see your USB device there? Select it and play a record. Do you see the bouncing ball sound meter jump? Close the panel. Launch Audacity. Audacity > Preferences > Devices > Recording. Do you see your device the...

Re: Microphone not Working
Are you on WinVista, Win7 or Win8? You posted two very different problems and linked them. We reeeeely doubt they have anything to do with each other. What kind of microphone do you have -- model numbers -- and which Windows? What's the show? Are you recording your trombone solo? Different answers t...
Re: Set up
MXL 880 condenser mic points to a whole series of microphones. Does your particular microphone require 48 volt Phantom Power? Did you turn it on? Koz
Re: Set up
The X2U has a microphone volume control on the side. Make sure that's all the way up. The Party Line is you adjust that for proper volume in a live performance, but in reality you always need it all the way up. That's one of my complaints about this thing. Do you get the lights on the X2U? There's a...

Re: Deepen voice while keeping crisp for commentary
I'm not looking for studio quality sound just something that when people are watching my youtube videos think hmm this guys audio sounds good and is enjoyable to listen to. I'm not after studio quality sound, but I want it to sound like it was recorded in a studio. Only one poster so far has got aw...

but can get cold at this time of year The suffering we do for our craft. that is some echo on the clip you posted. That was a clip in the middle of a very nice, professionally shot commercial for some weight-loss product. I can sense what happened. "Hey. We don't need to pay the studio any mor...
