Re: Circuit to connect PC Headset to USB Audiointerface
an improved signal when I set the input channel the circuit was connected to to Hi-Z. That's because you have a Hi-Z microphone. Rock Band and broadcast Lo-Z microphones like the Shure SM58 have a 150 ohm value, not 2200, 5000 or up, and they're expecting to see an amplifier of 1500. That's why you...

Re: Circuit to connect PC Headset to USB Audiointerface
The 2.2K resistor is appropriate for the original 5 volt supply in the computer. Since you're using 9 volts, it can be higher. Variable resistors can have their own problems. Because they are physical and direct part of the sound circuit they can cause more noise than a good quality fixed value resi...

Re: What cable do i need?
Do you have a Shure X2U? What kind of levels do you get if you plug a SM58 into it, turn the Mic Level all the way up and speak in a normal tone of voice? I've never been happy with mine. This is the level I get with a Beyer M58 N(C) speaking very forcefully. It does this with other microphones, too...

Re: What cable do i need?
I wasn't complaining about the pro mic. That can usually be made to work. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/UnbalBalAdapter.jpg The idea of plugging any Line-Out to the computer Mic-In is the subject of many production failures on the forum. "Why is my sound fuzzy and crunchy?" "How come...

Re: What cable do i need?
Then mic that speaker. True. That's the way to get the cabinet sound in addition to the actual notes. Most people like that a lot, however, if you do that, you're also miking the room so you'll also get echoes, wall slap and the dog next door. Tread carefully. Miking a loud cabinet can also give yo...

Re: What cable do i need?
there may be a 1/4" line-out jack that you could connect a typical guitar cord or 1/4" PA speaker cord to then get a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter for the other end that will then plug in to your laptops mic plug. But I wouldn't cozy up to that idea. The Mic-In of a Windows laptop is int...

Re: What cable do i need?
It still isn't clear what you're using the cellphone for and I wouldn't fall in love with using two different USB sound adapters at the same time.

Re: Isolating a specific noise
I think arriving with a conclusion of an analysis is premature. Post a clip of the sound before you did anything to it and describe the work.
Such as: "I recorded a lecture and I'm trying to remove air conditioning noise."

Re: how to enhance a recording?
wouldn't it be best to try to amplify the quiet ones to match the loud ones? at some points its almost like he is whispering and other times its just to loud to make out what is being said. This is not an intentional interview that happened to come out a little off. This is a clandestine recorder i...

Re: Triple recording
How can I separate them and record the 3 as separate mp3? If all you have is the MP3 with all the voices at once, you're stuck. If you saved the Audacity Project after the seminar, then open the Project, select one of the timelines and File > Export Selected. Then do the same thing with number two ...
