Re: Audacity Seems to close without notification.

It may be a 64 bit problem, but I think it's more likely two different high-energy, real-time programs struggling for the sound and video channels at once. Google will tell you there's no shortage of people having trouble with FRAPS and other services. It's not just Audacity.

Re: New problem: changing the emphasis of a word/syllable

It doesn't need punch. It's read in a tonal upswing and you want very slight gaps before and after and a downward and then upward swing. Effect > Sliding Time Scale/ Pitch Shift. Please note that you're going to run into all the other people who try to pitch shift voices. It's easy to produce chipmu...

Re: Create beats

It's File > Import.
There may be more convenient software to create a rhythm backing track, but you can probably do it.
Make sure you're using the latest Audacity 2.0.5.

Re: Quick question about recording with an external sound ca

Well, yes, but pulling from other postings, the booth feed is not equal to the house feed. The Show only goes out to the dancers, not the booth unless you switch it up like that. I predict [holding fingers to forehead] you're going to get it all set up and Either get an Audacity recording OR get a s...

Re: Audactiy distorted ALL audio files. How do I fix this?

I think Vista was the first Windows version that had tools to "enhance" sound for conferencing and Skype. It tries to figure out which sounds are evil -- like fan noises, refrigerators or traffic -- and tries to suppress them. Voices generally make it through OK, but music doesn't. It dest...

And in a note from Hollywood, Everybody Knows radar has to go round and round, newsrooms have to sound like teletype machines and scopes have to be green. It is written.

Re: Vectorscope or equivalent

Yes. I've never used one with a bar-graph on the bottom. What does that do besides get very upset when I went out of phase. I think we've been here before. It's a lovely tool but it only works in Windows 2000 and Red Hat Linux before 1999. I wonder if it has provision to capture a still without havi...

Re: CD recording doesn't work

I found that Audio CD Authoring programs almost always have a setting for blank time or gap between songs. Standard gap is two seconds, but you can produce an opera or rock concert where the music is continuous, but you still have chapter markers. For example, the opera plays continuously beginning ...
