Re: deleted .aup file
Or, if you don't mind installing python 2.7.6 , there is a script you can try which would attempt to create a new AUP file from the data, then you would just open the recreated AUP file. See: viewtopic.php?p=223406#p223406 . How about we install and run the recovery tool that comes with Audacity? Koz

Re: Latest
tonight I'll do a pure unaltered in any way flat demo. I don't know that it's going to help any more. We know your voice is going through two different microphones and a speaker cabinet, and I don't know that performing straight into the computer microphone is going to help that much. Computer micr...

Re: Crash during recording from DAT source
the crash appeared during an 'interruption' on the DAT tape DAT has a certain reputation for doing that. As I recall most DAT players don't have protection bitstreams or sync signals, they just flatline, crashing whatever is downstream. It's widely accepted that you bring a backup recorder to a DAT...

I may be missing something, but why are we "equalizing" when nobody's heard a flat, straight performance yet?

Since there's two ways to record from DAT, how were you doing it?

Re: Amplify not making sound loud enough?
It's not unusual for Windows Apps to have their own volume controls, so nobody is shocked that a sound is different in each app. First step is to make it safely loud with Effect > Amplify [OK]. That doesn't change the show in any important way except it gets louder or softer. If that's still not eno...

I had to read that several times. We have to build your system in our imaginations as we do this and sometimes it's rough not being able to see the setup. So on this song we can break up the "studio" into two parts. Your SM58 (I have one. Terrific mic.) plugged into the Mic-In of your amp ...

But only if you use sloppy analysis size. If you use anything higher than that, it starts to fall apart pretty fast. The newspaper test holds up no matter what the analysis size. Koz

Re: Improving Audio
Effect > Noise Removal. But hiss is very difficult to remove. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/noise_removal.html You won't be remastering it. The best you can do is reduce the hiss a little. If you go too far in Noise Removal, the background will sound quiet, but the music and voices will start...
