Re: Help with Science Fair Project Involving Audio Compressi

There's a lot of problems. 320 quality MP3 should have been indistinguishable from the original. That's way beyond the minimum needed to product an almost perfect copy. However, the listening machine has different pathways to play a WAV and an MP3. Your two pathways are not sound identical. Also, yo...

Re: Strange noise after noise removal

The top number, 40dB is way too high. That will produce sound errors and maybe brittle, honky voices. You can't use Noise Removal to turn your ratty, noisy recording into a studio production. Noise Removal works in two steps. Step one is the Profile step where you select some of the noise by itself ...

Re: How do I record an online seminar

A note, this is much more difficult if you are a contributor to the event.

Re: Crash during recording from DAT source

True, but the reason you use DAT in the first place is to get the higher quality. That you're holding a DAT tape usually means somebody cared enough to use the highest possible quality. But you're right. You could do it at lower quality. If you do have a lower quality tape, then the headphone transf...

Re: Windows XP set up

You only get that option if you plug in anything like a Behringer UCA202 USB device that supports it. What did you plug in?

Re: Latest

I think you won't be able to tell what you're doing without good speakers or top quality headphones. Or both. You got into this mess when you found that a 78 RPM record equalization sounded terrific. I use Boston Acoustics CR6 speakers, a Crown D75 amplifier, a Hafler DH101 preamplifer and a KLH ASW...

Re: deleted .aup file

This is Hollywood sense of humour, right? Their stuff is usually a lot funnier. there is a script you can try which would attempt to create a new AUP file from the data So somebody did the concept, structure, programming, troubleshooting, bug fixes and posting of a Python script to produce the holy...

Re: Crash during recording from DAT source

If you have a slightly older Mac with a Stereo Line-In like this...

... then all you need is one of these.

... and you got your show (except for the hole).

Re: Crash during recording from DAT source

It's almost certainly going to be 48000/16-bit/Stereo. DAT is the consumer version of a broadcast tape machine. I've never heard of a tape made any other way. There is another desperation method. Edit the work onto a broadcast videotape machine as two of the AES/EBU sound tracks (that is, one stereo...
