Re: Connecting to a MacBook with no "line-in"

Assuming you don't have one of the versions with one connection that can switch. Apple > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound They did that for a while. I use a Behringer UCA202. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo.jpg The UCA222 and the UFO202 with the built-in, switchable ph...

Re: How to use record hotkey in background?

my Audio Technica ATR2500 microphone picks up lots of background noise Don't have background noise? These problems all go away if you record in a quiet room -- or with a close, high-quality headset microphone. There is another recent post from someone who claims you don't need a studio any more wit...

Re: NOISE CANCELLATION

That's how it works. You expose Noise Removal to "Room Tone" which is the room noise without any performance. Then, without changing anything, you perform the work and use Noise Removal to remove the room in post production. However, Noise Removal works by generating filters that remove sp...

Re: Audacity is not recording

Are you not recording on Audacity any more?

Every time you Import an MP3, it's going to go on its own timeline. Is that the problem?

OIC

It's sometimes rough to tell what happened when somebody wants us to listen to a song they've been working on. We assume one person did everything until told otherwise.

Re: Recording very distorted

The sound damage is caused by you plugging a hot, powerful mixer signal into a tiny, vulnerable, delicate Mic-In. The UCA202 (or equivalent) is expecting a hot, powerful mixer signal, so all is well. You won't change the computer Mic to anything. You can tell Audacity to pay attention to the new USB...

Re: How can I stop getting this black line?

Control-L silences an existing track -- no breaks. Generate Silence produces a break in the show.

Re: Removing vocals ONLY, and not other instruments

You can of course filter those out by looking at the spectrogram and cut the frequencies...

Re: Request "mono" and "optimal output" on MP3 export screen

Tracks > Stereo Track to Mono.
File > Export > MP3 Files: Options: 32.

Edit > Undo

Did that cover it? Yes 32 is the minimum to make a mono show barely passable. Lower than that it sounds funny to just about everybody.
