Re: Issue when recording audio

This will sound a little odd, but are you sure the speakers go off? Sound routing on a Mac is a software switch, not hardware.

Do you have and use SoundFlower?

Audacity > Preferences > Devices > Recording.
Does that say Built-In-Microphone?

Re: Complicated noise reduction

It is bothersome that the sound closest to the recorder is muffled and the sounds further away are clear. I was recording using my phone (Samsung Galaxy S4) You should dig in your instructions and I bet it turns out the sound in your phone is directional. " For best sound, face the phone in the...

Re: Hum removal

Taking out 50 / 60 Hz is easy. The problem is taking out the harmonics. I don't think it's just taking out the fundamental. Sound Soap's reputation was that it could make things sound good. You can't hear either 60 or 50. It could also derive a noise profile without the profile step. Whatever singl...

Re: Hum removal

Can I assume you can't test for effectiveness? Do a recursive filter generation?
Take Out 180.
Test for 180.
Take more out.
Test...

If: No Change.
Then: take Out 360.

Re: Hum removal

Most times the performance hums because it doesn't know the words. Ba Dump. Tish! Is this a good place to background connect Analyze > Spectrum to the notch generator? Drag-select a portion of the show with hum only (if you have a large enough selection, it doesn't even matter if there is a little p...

Re: Need Help Recording

The sound connections and the connections that run the lights are different, so you can have one without the other. Unplug and replug both ends of the cable to make sure they're secure. Then restart Audacity. In addition to reinstalling the driver. We go for those almost immediately when people star...

Re: Newbie needs help

How do i do it with MP3 Split.
That's a Windows tool and I'm a Mac elf. We should wait for one of the Windows people to comment.

Re: Complicated noise reduction

Depending on your motivation, you could use the Envelope Tool. It sounds like there should be sinister music behind that, doesn't it? Import your show and click on the Envelope Tool -- two white arrows and bent blue line. This will give you blue rubber-band guides top and bottom of the track. You ca...

Re: Complicated noise reduction

its apparent that the louder sounds are coming from the background, and our group contains the muffled voices of the track I can't explain that one at all. I'd be wanting to inspect the phone or dig into the phone instructions. Conferencing and recording on a cellphone is a black art. Not dark gray...
