Re: Recording equipment for voice

Is there some better audiacity plugins that could remove noises from voice recording? No. We can't remove noise from a recording. We have a "Vocal Removal" tool and that doesn't work very well, either. If you go into a job depending on Noise Removal to work, you're doomed. If you could gi...

Re: take away noice

Compressor will only change the volume, not the gritty crashing sound.

Re: Active Window

So drag-select some music, Control-E zoom to selection, Space-Bar play doesn't work?

Re: take away noice

when big laughter is on terrible noices comes out. If you were recording from your seat in the audience, then the recorder overloaded during the laughter and that will sound crackly and gritty in addition to very much louder than the performer. I think you're stuck with the noise although you can m...

Re: USB Mixer Question

It's really important that you don't vanish on us. We would kill to find out what's causing this noise problem for quite a few others. If you do get the noise with the analog pathway in service, try with the USB cable both connected and disconnected. The analog pathway inside the Mac is not a second...

Re: Hum removal

I did enjoy your manual method. In electronics training we had the phrase "desperation method." It has to work and there's no other way. There is an existing tool, but it depends on manual filter juggling. The goal is, as above, to set a tool loose on the work and the tool automatically fi...

Re: adding snare drum starting with one beat

By now I expect several Audacity aficionados are shaking their heads in sorrow.
Only that if you spent enough weeks on it, you could have hired/found a drummer and reshot it.

Re: adding snare drum starting with one beat

I was sure you were going to complain that you exported the work and all the timing controls vanished. No, that's pretty much it. Particularly in a long piece with manual timing from live performers, the rhythm is going to wander and you just have to follow it, just like a real drummer -- except in ...

Re: Audio Length

Effect > Change Tempo.

That can cause sound damage. Effect > Change Speed will cause less damage, but the pitch of the performance changes.

Re: Hum removal

We compress the "Healthy" sound by hand
This may be a good time to remind everyone that our immediate goal is to find an effective technique that can be automated.

Remove Hum? [X] Yes [_] No.
