Re: No data files created for project

deleted those tracks and resaved the project. And the Project obediently saved everything in case you wanted to UNDO (as I get this). I deleted the xxx_data folder I think the instant you did that you doomed the project. The file and folder are a married couple. What usually happens is someone dele...

Re: Does Normalization Boost EQ?

Chris designed his compressor so he could listen to opera in the car. He said so. It is as successful as it is because he started with a musical performance and a goal and worked backwards rather than a whiteboard full of algorithms and working forward. I use it once a week to make a talk show usefu...

Re: Does Normalization Boost EQ?

This seems to cancel the benefits of most normalization processes. Only if you insist on the literal meaning of "normalize." In the electronic context, it just means make the blue waves bigger until you run out of room. Performance loudness is irrelevant. It's a very close cousin to Ampli...

Re: record audacity using headphonemicrophone jack

As a general rule, entertainment/stereo recording needs to be done outside the computer. I use a Behringer UCA202 with a Windows PC... http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo.jpg It also works on Mac and Linux. If you need to direct-connect a conventional turntable, Behringer also ...

There's quite a number of things that can do that.

Re: Help! Recording cuts on sustained notes!

And just so you don't think this is "Evil Magic" or something, communications software tries to suppress room noise, air conditioning noise and other sound problems that compete with your speaking (not singing) voice. They figure any sustained sounds (or musical notes) is interference and ...

Re: Recorder says interview is there, will only play 7 secon

Did you do new recordings and then try to play the old one back? How close are you to the end of the memory? Which of the three quality ranges do you use? I don't think I would have used it again until this was resolved. It's a smoking gun. Give me the scenario. You completed the interview, flipped ...

Re: Project Save didn't copy one wav file

I believe the current Audacity defaults to making "personal copies" of its sound files. It didn't used to and people used to trash their shows all the time by removing an external sound file that Audacity was standing on. Our joke was one good way to turn your show to rubble was to "c...

Re: Recorder says interview is there, will only play 7 secon

Is there a utility on the recorder that says how much memory you have left? Have you ever worried about filling up your recorder or card? Those of us with tape machines constantly worry about running out of tape, but when you have 35 or more hours in High Quality Digital Memory, that can escape you....
