Re: Editing a Voice Recording
The easiest way is Import both tracks so they appear one above the other. Select the voice track by clicking just above the MUTE button > Copy (Control-C). Then click in the main show blue waves where you want the voice to be and Paste, Control-V. That's not particularly elegant, but it does work. Y...

Re: record Kindle
Depending on your Mac, it may be as simple as connecting the Kindle headphone socket to the Mac Stereo Line-In with one of these. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/stereoJumper.jpg The Line-In on a Mac looks like a thin circle with two black arrows. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MacLin...

Re: Newly edited file has lost audio when saved
This isn't strictly the same problem, but a recent posting from someone who lost odd pieces of their live recording couldn't figure out what happened — right up until the memory inside their portable recorder crashed the rest of the way and took everything with it.

Re: Newly edited file has lost audio when saved
I still have the original recording, Is it intact? If it is, then I can't account for pieces of the Project being missing. Having the WAV and the Project match isn't surprising. The damage happened to the Project first. Anything you exported would have the damage. Your symptoms match perfectly with...

Re: lost file PLEASE HELP
What is the exact name you called the show? What's the name of the AUP file?
The AUP file has no ability to navigate the computer, so for it to find the _DATA folder, it has to be in the same directory or folder — and that location can be anywhere you have permission to work.

Re: exporting multiple tracks at once
I assume you mean one WAV for each of four tracks.
Try putting a label at the top of each track. File > Export Multiple.

Re: Trying to record Adobe Reader "Read Out Loud"
Unless Adobe Read Out Loud does something magic to the sound services, you should be able to set up your computer for self-recording and go with it. Can you record YouTube videos? Some computers don't have the software and services to record themselves. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_...

Re: Newly edited file has lost audio when saved
But you still have the original WAV file so you can just edit it again right? If not, then that's the first error. Make protection copies of all master live recorded tracks. I have original, live performances a couple of years old. If I ever destroyed an original performance (at the wrong time) I'd ...

Re: lost file PLEASE HELP
Audacity doesn't save sound files. It saves Projects. When you save an Audacity Project, it makes an AUP file and a _DATA folder with the show in it. KozMusic.aup (file) KozMusic_data (folder) You need to have both of those and they need to be in the same folder or location for the show to open. Dou...
