Re: Repeating-audio project playback

You can make the original audio stop playing with a setting.

Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Recording > [_] Overdub (de-select).

You can make your own live audio stop playing with another setting.

Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Recording > [_] Playthrough (de-select).

Re: What Hardware/Setup Combo do I need?

A problem with gamer computers is the noise. This comes up on the forum here and there. "I'm recording gamer commentary and the cooling noise keeps getting into the recording." Yes. It does. Separate the computer and the microphone.... Oh, wait. You can't do that with a USB microphone. Act...

Re: What Hardware/Setup Combo do I need?

If somebody sent me a note that they wanted to record up to four people in an informal chat/living room setup, I would be bringing my four channel sound mixer and four broadcast lavalier (neck-tie) microphones. My Mac has stereo Line-In, but if your machine is a Windows laptop, you'll need some sort...

Re: Car Noise

The telephone filter is in the pre-baked list of filters in Effect > Equilization. If that doesn't work, then there isn't much more to be done. By "car noise" I assume you mean a combination of engine, road, and wind noises. The wind noise is going to be the most serious. If it overloaded ...

Re: Cant export files!

Try Exporting your work with no punctuation marks except dash and underscore. Did you put a date in the filename? Use the ISO version of date. Today is 2014-03-04, not 3/4/14.

Are you using Audacity 2.0.5?

Re: Questions about sound artifact removal.

If the question is can we make Vocal Removal perfect? Not so far. Most modern songs include stereo vocal effects and other left-right spacial modifications that escape Center Pan Removal because they're not in the center. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/MysteryTrain3.mp3 Before and after. The s...

Re: Recording with K26 keyboard

Audacity doesn't accept MIDI, so it doesn't make any difference what you do with those cables. How, in detail did you connect the keyboard sound to your computer? Actually, it would be your entertainment amplifier to the computer. I assume you can hear the keyboard on your speakers, so that part wou...

Re: Request "mono" and "optimal output" on MP3 export screen

That was me [raising hand]. I got burned early on with a CD/DVD burner for my home-built Windows machine that came with a Audio CD Authoring Program — that wouldn't accept mono sound files. Of course, I didn't find that out until quite a bit of struggling. The program had a number of other serious s...

Re: i want to play through with a delay

Like I posted in an earlier thread, the only way I ever got that to work was borrowing the demo version of a very large audio program and use the demo delay feature which never timed out on the demo. The program didn't belong to me, so I can't even get you that far. It was for a communications testi...
