Re: Audacity won't display raw audio higher than -6dB, even if I know I'm clipping. Any reason why?
If you tell the system to mix stereo down to mono, say you're announcing with one microphone into a stereo interface but you're recording mono, the system may reduce the volume by half (-6dB) to make room for two microphones mixing and adding. Some interfaces have driver software that doesn't do tha...

Re: Dynamic mic, pre amp vs amp
Typical Mic-In may give you 40dB of gain unless you're on Windows and use the "Mic Boost" service. This adapter is good for about 20dB boost plus the 40dB giving you the 60dB gain you probably should have had in the beginning. You're building a Cloud Lifter. The Shure SM7 is a terrific mic...

How are you going to get that signal into your little card when it comes?

Re: Dynamic mic, pre amp vs amp
You plugged the mic into your soundcard and it works, but not loud enough? So your microphone cable has one of these on the end? https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/stereoJumper.jpg 1/8" or 3.1mm or 3.5mm however they converted it. Does it have one black ring on the metal end or two like th...

Re: Help Achieving ACX Noise Floor requirement
I know that was a little intense. I did an entire info dump and evaluation in a short time. Post back with what you want to fix first. I'd go with the room echoes. They will kill you for any kind of quality recording and you can't fix echoes later. I know you're looking longingly at Noise Reduction ...

Re: WAV versus MP3 formats
Having said all that, WAV files are not open-ended either. Because of internal housekeeping, Audacity makes very slight changes to the WAV shows it exports. They're not perfect. But they're a shining beacon on the hill compared to the way MP3 does it.

Re: WAV versus MP3 formats
ACX requires MP3 (at a very high quality/bitrate) because they're a company and they have to store these things. Storage costs money and MP3 files are common and tiny. They picked MP3-Constant-192 as a submission standard because they can produce all their different products and services without hav...

Tda 1308 Do you have the circuit board or just the 1308 chip? If it's just the chip, you'll have to build half of one of those boards (it's stereo). Do you have it sorted where you're going to get your five volts from? Screen Shot 2020-09-18 at 6.32.22 PM.png C6 and C7 are power supply filters. Tha...

Re: Help Achieving ACX Noise Floor requirement
Silly me. The illustration is by Blue, but it doesn't appear in all the Yeti manuals. It wasn't in the one I looked through. Maybe it's a production update when they figured out half the world didn't know how to use their microphone.

Re: Meeting ACX Audio Submission Requirements
Yes. That is an actual bug. Unintentional evil software behavior experienced by multiple people on multiple machines. That will be gone in Audacity 3.any idea why this would keep happening??
