If you play the bass, you can set up for Overdubbing, where you add new, live tracks to an older song.
Do you?

Re: HELP! Behringer Xenyx 1024USB
Do you get the bouncing red recording sound meters and blue waves (the sizes may be different)? http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_record.jpg Then you are getting a recording whether you can hear it or not. Finish a short recording and press Stop. Windows sometimes likes to mess with the sound...

Re: Audacity 2.0.5 to Itunes...Help for dummies
There's no end of things you can do while you're transferring between vinyl and digital. Pop, click, and noise reduction, and breaking the music up into individual songs for two biggies. There's a couple of hidden items as well. How old are your records? How old is your computer? How are you going t...

Re: Audacity 2.0.5 to Itunes...Help for dummies
I was very surprised that iTunes wakes up from First Birthday without showing the sidebar. That's the option that gets you out of trouble. iTunes > View > View Sidebar. The top of that list, Library > Music is where imports go. See if you can find your work in that list. Yes, you do have to remember...

Re: Recording problems
You do have blue waves and the green sound meters do jump, right? http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_playback.jpg Does it start working if you disconnect the guitar amp USB? Windows sometimes has a wacky idea of where to send sound and it's not always your computer speakers. Click on the devic...

Re: Using Manual without Opening Browser?
To answer the specific question, browsers are just computer programs and they work just fine without any internet connection at all. I run a web site and I build it completely on my Mac Mini with no internet connection. I "surf" to it in Safari by File > Open File > comix.html (for one exa...

Re: Not Recording from Any Input [Possible Bad Windows Updat
Restart Audacity. Audacity looks for devices on startup and the update could have killed its connection.

Re: Automatic Cutting and Normalizing of a Concert Recording
Still not good to get buried in technical minutiae without a goal, as much fun as that is. If it's for broadcast, the transmitter compressors are going to take a lot of those technical decisions away from you. For casual listening/posting to YouTube, Chris's Compressor is not bad for overall evening...

Re: What Hardware/Setup Combo do I need?
I think hand-held is a fever dream. Those microphones are side-fire, you don't talk into them like a rock band microphone. They have little or no handling isolation and are usually used on a stand with a spring or rubber shock mount. Nobody is going to be hand-holding a side-fire microphone and pop ...

Re: Too much input volume and slider bars not working
Maybe the Audacity forum threads should be managed through videoconferencing A good trick since we cover all time zones and are never on-line at the same time. Maybe a Skype DVR? The only time you should be using a "Mic-In" is if you have a MIC (Microphone) and you want to put it IN (reco...
