Select one of the two tracks by clicking just above its MUTE button.

Re: Multi Track Recording
Sure. Each microphone strip on the mixer (microphone connection on top and volume control on the bottom) has a Pan Control just above the volume control. Push the first microphone to the left and the second microphone to the right. From that point forward the two microphones will be completely separ...

Re: Standard Noise Removal Settings for 30 Year Old Audio Ta
You should probably stop wishing for magic bullet settings. Noise Removal and Vocal Removal are two Audacity tools that look grand in the advertisement but don't work so good in real life. Tape hiss — or any hiss really — is a killer problem. You can't actually suck the hiss out of a performance wit...

Re: Audio removed from track
So the show would have been produced with actual damaged data, or perfectly fine data if Audacity could read it? Enter: Audacity 2.0.6-Alpha.1.5 hours at 384000 Hz (whether mono or stereo).

Re: Can't split tracks in Audacity (from Pamela recording)
Who made the MP3? Never do production in MP3. It creates sound damage and you can't stop it. It's a two-track MP3, right? It looks a little like this: http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_playback.jpg Note that the green sound meters don't match and if you look close, the blue waves don't match,...

Go > Utilities > Activity Monitor. My MBP was acting wacky and it turned out an indexing process was jammed full on and stuck taking one entire processor core with it. %CPU = 93.5 Activity Monitor has listings of processes running and graphics to tell you what the machine is doing. When you do find ...

Re: Unable to switch from built in mic to line input
Also make sure your Stereo/Mono is switched right. You can get there from the Audacity Tool Bar, or you can go the long way: Audacity > Preferences > Devices > Recording. And just to cover it, the Stereo Line-In is the circle with two black arrows. What are you plugging into your Mac? Cassette playe...
