Re: Cassette to audacity background humming

headphone jack (only jack) on a macbook pro. Which MacBook Pro? 13"? Do you have provision to "turn the jack around" into a stereo Line-In? Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Hardware > Sound. Do you have a switching panel or other control? Post a screen grab of what you have....

Re: Can't Record Using Serato DJ & Pioneer DDJ-SX Controller

booth output on my Pioneer DDJ-SX to the Mic input port/headphone jack on my computer Does it actually say that, or does it say connect the mixer stereo output to the Stereo Line-In of your computer? There's three levels of this: A computer that actually has a blue stereo line-in (what you need), a...

Re: Please Help A Newbie With Splitting Tracks

I want to transfer some old lp's to mp3 for disc burning That's the first problem. MP3 is a delivery format and causes sound distortion. Use WAV (Microsoft) for Export to a CD burning program. You generally do song breaks in Post Production. Record the whole disk and then go back and put a label at...

Re: Can't split tracks in Audacity (from Pamela recording)

Re: Audacity 'pauses' on any editing

Do you use Time Machine? Have you noticed that the Time Machine icon no longer spins, but just changes into a different still icon? That's to avoid "wasting" resources on the 5mm wide animation. I liked that spinning icon. I thought the clock moving backward was a nice elegant touch that I...

Re: Audacity 'pauses' on any editing

Mavericks is much more aggressive about "wasting" computer resources and so has provision to isolate and suspend processes it thinks don't need servicing Right This Second . In 10.9.1, this service resulted in flashes of Spinning Beach Ball of Death here and there as the system rapidly shi...

Re: Standard Noise Removal Settings for 30 Year Old Audio Ta

A very common problem is going for the gold and adjusting Noise Removal for a velvety, studio quiet background and then posting here complaining that the show got all honky and bubbling — or the voices got hissy and distorted. Yes. That's correct. Hiss and voices have a lot in common and changing on...

Re: All audio suddenly and mysteriously corrupt!

That test clip falls apart immediately if you have something wrong with your speaker or headphone system. Without sitting down with a cup of tea and analyzing it, yes, you have something very seriously wrong. The first three segments should only change left-right location. Segment three should appea...
