Re: Remove Silence Between Tracks
That is a terrific idea, but it still doesn't rescue the records you really liked. What was the silly line, "playing them clear?" Those you might want to consider downloading.

Analyze > Silence Finder.
I thought there was an automatic one...
Silence Finder can be dangerous on vinyl. Vinyl records don't have silence. They just have music and groove noise and sometimes the're the same volume. Of course the problem is much worse on records you really like.

Re: recording is randomly interrupted
Pick a low tone, 400Hz or lower so you don't go crazy listening to it for two minutes. It doesn't have to be very loud. You can read the paper while it's playing, but we're betting that even though Audacity made a perfect tone "show" and the green playback meters never change, your compute...

Re: audio clips repeat numerous times
How are you playing the clip? Audacity? Spacebar is Play and Stop in Audacity, but Shift-Spacebar is Loop Play. When I play-back the new clip it repeats the same clip over and over.

Re: equalize levels on skype recording
Pamela is the gold standard. The lower two licenses have restrictions. The upper two paid licenses have no restrictions you're likely to run into. You can try it and see if it does what you want. Re: equalize levels on skype recording
That's because there is no help. What you are recording is the acoustic leakage through your headset and onto the recording. If everything was perfect, that voice would go away, not get louder. Windows people can try Skype Call Recorder, or for really good control over your production voices, Pamela...

Re: advice on improving quality of low-bit recordings
Probably not. Opening the work in a very high quality just means the work won't get any worse. If it's straight speech, there are exotic rescues like speech to text converters and then text to speech. But if the original is ratty, then they might not work so well, either.
