Re: How do I eliminate unwanted noise from audio file
It's not "straight" interference in the sense of hearing the lamp dimmer buzzing along in the show. This is a serious interruption of the actual audio data like the recorder can't keep up. It mostly goes away during silences. That's what kills our tools. I would say you were outrunning the...

Re: Ineed the lamen or basic instructions 2 getting started
You are trying to do overdubbing or sound-on-sound? Play one track and then add another instrument and then another? One of the first steps in the overdubbing tutorial is getting Audacity to do a straight recording, if you got it that far, then the rest is wrestling the hardware to behave. You are w...

Re: EFFECT/AMPLIFY - odd behavior?
I probably would have left the Music CD in its original WAV quality rather than converting it to a compressed format. And Audacity doesn't work internally at 16 bit. It works in 32-floating, a much broader volume range. Audacity isn't scientist friendly. You have to work to make a simple, high quali...

Re: Shure sm58 help
I have absolutely no idea how I did it, but after some testing and toying with the mixer I somehow managed to get the desired results on all the programs I mentioned earlier. If you disconnected the USB cable and reconnected it, that may have done it. Nothing like a little dust in the connection to...

Re: Skipping in Mavericks
Short is good. If you only have a quality of sound issue, you can post a very good quality MP3 to illustrate it and get more time. If it's something where we have to take the file apart and very critically analyze it, then you're stuck with a short WAV. No "Mass in D Major." Sorry. You can...

Oops. It's File > Find. Not Edit > Find. There's a setting in preferences to restrict the default search to the immediate computer, different from Linux search which tries to search Earth unless you stop it. right-click over the found item > Get Info and look at "Where". Or, Control-Click,...

Re: Adjusting Player Speed
So the turntable is rotating at the wrong speed? Capture normally in Audacity and then Effect > Change Speed to correct the show. Audacity doesn't run any effects or corrections during record. You have to put the correction values in — you have to know. There's no way for the software to know how mu...

Re: How do I eliminate unwanted noise from audio file
My guess is no. The Audacity Noise Removal Tool works by sampling a bit of the noise without the voices. That's step one. Your interference is only there during vocals. I'm finding even using the show painful way of notching out interference isn't working because the noise doesn't stay at one pitch....

Re: Searching inside an audio file
Audacity has no Speech to Text tools and no search tools beyond Silent Sense. We do however have labels. You can strike a key combination and Audacity will put a visible label at that point in the recording. As long as you Save the Project in addition to Exporting a WAV at the end of the interview, ...

Re: Can't Record Using Serato DJ & Pioneer DDJ-SX Controller
There was another self-contained recorder that went through the forum recently. The Roland ...something. Here it is. "Roland R-05 Studio WAVE/MP3 Recorder" It's part of this posting from someone setting up a podcast "studio." http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=52&t...
