You wouldn't be the first person to discover a speaker problem after recording a clean, clear live performance.
Windows has Playback Enhancements, too. Look for "Concert Hall" or other effects.

Re: Distortion on the audio even from lower input
I don't hear any distortion, although the tuning is making my ears bleed. How are you listening? The levels look good. Can you describe the distortion? I'm expecting crispy ticking and crunching sound if overload is the problem. None of that. Playing in a large, empty rain barrel? I don't hear any o...

Re: How to design an efficient, responsive Timing-grid
It's not that unusual to have two versions of audio tools. The normal one which works in good time but isn't perfect, and one that does a terrific job if you want to wait for it. Have you picked a target computer? The software is acceptable if it can work on a computer with this memory and that driv...

Re: Audio track problem
Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Recording The top section of that panel should only have one thing selected. Maybe no things. Try that. An echo is usually the transition time for your voice to go through the computer and come back out. You can't stop that, but you can turn off the pathway and see if...

Re: Manipulating Decibels
And as I posted, the guidelines are in dB and RMS which is profoundly unhelpful if me mum is trying to produce an audiobook. I know people who are terrific readers and narrators and who wouldn't make it past any of the technical standards. Only engineers with good reading voices need apply. I think ...

Re: Manipulating Decibels
So we're in 'Secret Aural Teachings" territory and it's perfectly possible and expected for ACX to reject weeks of finished product.

Re: Sound quality reduced while using "Noise Removal"
Hiss or white noise in particular is almost impossible to remove. When you get the profile, Audacity tries to build filters to remove the noise from the show. Since hiss has a little bit of all frequencies, Noise Reduction tries to remove the whole show. Frequency Smoothing is a trick to try and get...

Re: Quality of piano sound on a keyboard
I have two. A smaller 77-key Yamaha that I enjoyed using, but the samples were just OK. Then I got one of the larger 88-key models and that one's much better. It has tricks I've never used, but the existing samples and tools work just fine.

Re: sounds like recorded in toilet
Windows assumes you're trying to make a business conference call, not a high quality recording.

Re: Audacity 'pauses' on any editing
Do you have the hard drive icon in the upper right corner? Control-Click on it > Get Info. Read Capacity and Available, or do a Shift-Command-4 and draw a box around that panel. That will screen grab and you can post that picture here. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=64936 Koz
