Re: Having problems recording with Samson C01U
The blue waves aren't dB, they're in percent because it's easier to edit that way. The sound meters are in dB. I didn't think the C01U needed drivers. It was just a simple USB sound source. They may have drivers to get some extra features. As a rule, USB sound devices need a home run to the computer...

Re: recording in stereo on 2i2, win 8.1, shure pg58, usb inp
You should have a stereo show with your voice only on one track. The Focusrite isn't a mixer. It's a straight USB interface. Whatever you plug into #1 will arrive on Stereo Left. Whatever you put in #2 will arrive on Stereo Right. In Audacity you can use the little black arrow drop-down on the left ...

Re: How to design an efficient, responsive Timing-grid
I wouldn't be shocked if Audacity was using the same technique as games use to post an amazing complex background and shift it back and forth rather than render it repeatedly it like they do with some of the characters. I'll help you wait.

Re: Support edit controller
doing video editing There is one problem that pops up almost immediately when people use those words. Audacity will not scrub. You can't play rapidly screaming up to the edit point and then very slow back and forth over it until you're sure of where you are. People who arrive from video editors are...

Re: Manipulating Decibels
Yes. That's a segment from Car Talk show 1413. It's a studio quiet show with no attempt at volume regulation in the podcast. Tom has the nuclear laugh and Ray tends to talk in his beer. I didn't try the noise test. This is just a pass at Chris with the compression turned up a bit. The peaks hover ar...

Re: Auto Profile for Noise Reduction — Proposal
So which one is the request? Two, added to the classic, legacy version. — Auto Profile by sampling the whole show. — Guided Profile by manually selecting a sloppy portion of the show with the majority of the noise. Auto Profile might be wildly impractical, but no, I don't see it happening during a ...

Re: Distortion on the audio even from lower input
If I had to reveal something, I would pick some of the higher volume notes that get too close to overload. There is one note on the right side (bottom track) near the end that actually does overload. So it's still too loud. View > Show Clipping. We picked -6 as a target for musical peaks in live rec...
