Re: Manipulating Decibels

Re: Manipulating Decibels
No, I didn't use Chris's Compressor on the second process. Just those few simple tools to gently adjust levels and then push the noise level down just a touch . That's why I published the screen prints of the values I used. You should do those steps to your WAV master and submit that for testing. I ...

[regardless of the source of the recording. When people say that, they usually mean "I can't record from YouTube any more." Yes. Win7 made it more difficult to do that. http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tutorial_recording_computer_playback_on_windows.html http://manual.audacityteam.org...

Re: Start recording while NOT in audacity window?
I think Audacity still needs focus in order to do anything. There's a lot of people who want command-line actions and I'm pretty sure we can't do that very well, either. Someone will correct me.

There's also a clicky that reverses Noise Removal. It's an "Isolate" button.

Re: Noise removal doing the opposite of what it should
I don't think I would have clicked Repeat Noise Removal. That would have repeated Get Profile. So get the profile again and this time select all (or click above the MUTE button) and Effect < Noise Removal and this time select your removal parameters > OK.

Re: USB mic hiss/white noise
So you're making these. They don't come with the ferrite chokes.

I was going to say, I have clip-ons.
How would you know to add the bead/chokes — and where? Radio interference can be seriously magic.

Re: Correct adapter for my mic + recorder combo?
You can get into trouble if one is a TRS and the other is a TS. How that missing metal ring is handled is sometimes the difference between having a microphone work and not. You can also have troubles with buzz rejection if you get those connections wrong. What is the microphone? There is a significa...
