Re: Manipulating Decibels
And a lot of those problems vanish with Chris's Compressor. Addressing that variation over the course of the show was one of the design goals. I wonder if one of the other sliders addresses the overall volume boost that ACX didn't like. @Xena You can tell by yourself what needs to be done by putting...

Re: Podcasting: Converting Stereo track to mono track
Tracks > Stereo Track to Mono Gracefully mixes Left and Right into one single Mono track. You should Export all your original high quality Stereo WAV files as protective archive. Once you make a mono presentation, you can't back up to stereo if you want or need to. Also note that if the service insi...

Re: Using Audacity from a prerecorded-file.
Saving to a wireless service is an interesting idea. I have no experience with that. Let us know if you get something to work. One problem I can see is you are at the mercy of whatever connection you can get. You've talked to people who couldn't get a good cellphone connection and you know what they...

Re: Manipulating Decibels
So where are you? Did you resubmit with restrained Effect > Amplify and Effect > Noise Reduction? I wonder if they're going to catch the occasional peaks up to -2.

Re: Manipulating Decibels
I think maybe glitzy promotional design may nave gotten in the way of functionality. Pop filters don't work by straining the air on the way to the microphone, they work by deforming slightly during the performance and it's the deformation that strips off the breathing and pops. Normal vocal sounds v...

Re: Bit perfect editing
Some advanced compression formats can't be "lossless edited." In addition to the usual tricks of Fourier stripping and bit restrictions, they depend on re-arranging the show's data for even smaller files. Cut the show's data without decompression/recompression and it falls apart. Compressi...

Re: Windows 7 and the Echo Layla 24/96
What do the Windows Control Panels say? Audacity is a complete slave to what Windows is doing. If Windows doesn't supply a multi-channel show then Audacity is never going to see it.

Re: Audactiy recording - file playback is slow...
It would be good to know that. Start a recording of your presentation like you always do but don't bother to actually play anything. Ting the edge of a wine glass to give you a pitch reference and then go wash the kitchen windows or something. Set your alarm clock/cellphone for 58 minutes and stop t...

Re: Audactiy recording - file playback is slow...
The full length is correct, but everything is at about 115 BPM when I was playing techno at about 128/129 BPM. And the pitch of the music is low? What happens if you Export the set as a WAV file and then play it in Windows Media? Is it still slow? It's rough to believe the show is the right total l...
