Re: Question about microphone placement
What you're supposed to do is have three independent microphones pointed in different directions around a desk in a soundproof room. A "Studio." They plug into a sound mixer which mixes them together into a single show. That's the step that compensates for the individual speaking styles. I...

Re: Headsets and phone call recording
I want to be able to record my phone calls You don't have "Phone Calls." you have Skype calls or other IP/internet-based service. You're not using a cellphone or landline. You need a recorder that "knows" how to deal with your service. In the case of Skype, the Pamela software r...

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.
Given you get the environment sorted, there's nothing wrong with the one you got.Oh and which microphone SHOULD I be aiming for at a later point?
Check how the closet works before you start writing checks to Amazon.

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.
Do you not have lights? The official reason is I lose the traffic noises. It's too late to catch all the people coming home from work. The original object of the test is to contrast the tight, noise canceling headset with a "normal" broad, sloppy microphone. The unofficial reason is I'm s...

Re: Using Audacity from a prerecorded-file.
These is a test I shot this evening with a very similar setup to that picture on the table. It's a different, similar microphone, but everything else is the same. The first clip is raw capture with the volume adjusted. The second clip is volume adjusted and a rumble filter applied to get rid of the ...

I didn't want to touch the recording at all Perfectly correct. We can take them out as we work on the clip. You need to know that you need to take them out as well if you try to duplicate our work. I was visualizing a closet full of jackets and maybe a clutch of shoes. A box of Christmas ornaments,...

Re: Need someone with experience to edit sound for me
I cant seem to get the results I need. And we won't be able to, either. Audacity has no surveillance tools. We can't pull voices out of the mud like they can on CSI and other TV shows. That's pretty much all Hollywood. I sometimes think they do that every other script just to drive everybody crazy....

Re: USB Dual Pre
Restart Audacity or Transport > Rescan. Audacity checks for new devices when it starts.

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.
Acoustic foam is borderline magic. They show up at trade shows and build a workable recording studio smack in the middle of the deafening convention floor. It's made only of their acoustic foam and it doesn't even have a door. It has a free-air entranceway where you have to turn a corner to enter. W...
