Re: YETI Playback Distortion
What step do you think I have missed? You told us the sound was distorted but not whether or not the volume changed. We can only go with what you tell us and I wanted to know if the tools seem to act normally even if the sound doesn't. Do you use Soundflower? You can get very serious science fictio...

Re: Skipping in Mavericks
Went around the wrong way. We had offices in Hyderabad and Kuala Lumpur, so I got good at converting that direction. Less production in Europe.

Re: YETI Playback Distortion
You missed a step. Did it change the volume when you did that?I have adjusted audacity's volume like you mention, as well as all other volume settings (on the mic itself, Mac settings). Any sound file sounds crappy, frizzed-out like an 8-bit nintendo.

Kudos to both Gale and Koz and your depth of knowledge. We're happy to help. Doing it across eight/nine time zones helps. Let's see. If it's 01:00 in Manchester, it's 22:00 in LA. So corrections, additions, suggestions, and comments are never more than about three hours away. Sometimes a lot quicke...

Re: YETI Playback Distortion
What are you doing? Are you overdubbing to create three part harmony with yourself, or are you just playing a sound file that appears to play everyplace else? Audacity > Preferences > Recording. Only one thing should be checked in that top block. Overdub OR Software Playthrough. While you're playing...

Re: Using Audacity from a prerecorded-file.
I would buy the minimum needed to make a simple recording. It's always a shock when people realize how badly behaved live sound recording can be.

I'm doing a memory dump. This may not make any difference to you. http://www.kozco.com/tech/pix/ZoomFieldRecorder.jpg Yeti notes: — The microphones will always be for a sit-down interview. They're not hand-holdable. The microphone in my illustration is for field recording and was purposely designed ...

Re: Complete noob needs some help
Your microphone has electronics inside. That's how it works. It's not simple and passive like a rock band microphone. Some electronics can be powered with an internal battery (many shotgun microphones do that) and some don't use an internal battery but depend on the mixer or device to supply battery...

Re: Cannot enter selection start/end manually
It works for Delete, but not Destructive Backspace. That's a Mac-ism.
Does the selection stick when you Effect > Amplify or any other effect?
When was the last time you restarted the machine?

Re: Suggestion for effects column
You can directly edit the effects list by opening the plugins folder. That process can change depending on your computer type.
