Re: Sync Drift from different Zoom Recorders

If you have to do this again, as you noticed, separate sound can work perfectly well and is generally preferred, somebody needs to appear on camera and clap at the beginning and the end — just like the big kids.

Re: Sync Drift from different Zoom Recorders

They were both running at 44100 according to each one's own individual internal clock electronics — the electronics that have manufacturer's tolerances. So now you know why that person (usually Camera Assistant) goes out in front of the camera at the beginning of a film shoot and loudly says,"C...

Re: How change X-axis range in Spectrum Analysis Plot

Zoom In to a spectrum analysis is a Feature Request. The work-around, since the accuracy of the display goes up as the dragged size of the window goes up is to repeatedly drag the window larger and push it off the left of the screen as you go. Then reposition the window so the portion of interest is...

Re: Very bad bug: Noise is introduced when converting aif to

If all you're doing is converting a 16 bit AIFF to a 16 bit WAV, you should be able to turn off dither. Edit > Preferences > Quality > High Quality Conversion. If you add effects or apply filters, you're dead. You have to leave it in there. There is a bug in earlier versions of Audacity that the his...

Re: Disappearing Labels

Our shop had to be able to transfer audio and video work to all three computer types in all time zones using all available transfer tools, completely ad-lib. We adopted the safe characters upper and lower case letters, numbers, underscore and whichever dash mark is safe. We also gave up spaces in fi...

Re: Having problems recording with Samson C01U

Though I didn't know that you can't plug USB microphones to external hubs, the one I used is a wall-powered one, so I guess it should have been alright...? USB Audio equipment works best plugged directly into the computer — a home run. Some laptops don't do a very good job of supplying power to run...

Re: Fledgling voice artist seeking counsel.

The goal is not to put little pieces of paper tape with marking pen on the knobs like a friend of mine used to do. It's to do whatever is necessary to make the red Audacity recording meters flash well and make blue waves the right size. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/Audacity1_record.jpg Yours will ...

Re: Alignment probem exporting and importing

Everybody wants to make this song into a fancy Skype-sync performance, but Josh posts that they all simply sung their own parts in their own cities and send the final files to him for integration into one song. He never said what they were using for a sync track, though. Is that where you're stuck? ...
